Does anybody know if there was a option for a special order color back in 2001. I know the stripes that is shown on this truck isn't from the factory, just wondering if the orange paint was a special order option. If you want to see what it looks like, go to www.creativecarsonline.com. Not bad price for the truck either.

Not sure if the color was an option but I think I've seen some this color. Special "batch" colors are available under the right circumstances if enough are ordered to justify the setup.

Door jambs and original stickers make me believe it was originally this color. At least from what I can tell by the pics.

Yup, that's factory from what I remember. I think the color was called "sunset orange" if i'm not mistaken. It seems like it was only available for a year or so. I saw one like that driving around my area a couple years back.

Not special, it just part of the color palette that year. It was not a very popular color and I don't think it was offered for very long 01, 02 the most. I recall the local GMC had one that color and that truck sat on their lot for a very long time until someone bought it. I still see it around, some retired guy drives it.

It was called "Sunset Orange Metallic" You could get that color on car also, seem a few Camaro and Firebird in that color.

Hmm, I was actually quite a fan of that color. Looked really good dressed up with some chrome, at least in my opinion anyway.

I bought a 2002 - 2500 Avalanche during the first year of Avalanche production. The 2002 Avalanche was available in Sunset Orange Metallic and it was a really gorgeous color.

I could not find a 2500 Avalanche in SOM, leading me to think that the more popular K1500 Avalanches were available in the color.

Red is always a great choice, so I found my 2500 Avalanche in Victory Red and I was delighted with the color.

Happiness with the Avalanche was a "not so much" situation. The sectional tonneau cover(s) leaked like a sieve, the 8.1 liter engine burned way in excess of one-quart of oil every 500 miles and the "midgate" leaked so much water that the rear carpet was constantly wet and mildewing. Even worse, the Avalanche was was functionally completely blind to the rear. Eventually, I divined that the Avalanche was a solution to a nonexistent problem.

The Avalanche gave me very two happy days; one when I bought it and one, a year later, when I got rid of the stupidly-designed SOB.

Silverados and Sierras are trucks. And I'm a truck guy.
