Getting a new tv to replace my Sony.

The Sony has started giving me trouble.

Does anyone know anything about this tv or have any opinions?

(That was a stupid question...I see y'alls opinions ALL THE TIME.) :rollin::eek::lol:

It is a 60 inch Plasma.

Jim,

I dont know much about this TV, but I absolutely am an avid fan of Samsungs and Toshibas. I worked at Circuit City when I was younger and in between jobs. The Samsungs and Toshibas always held up and were almost never returned. You can pick them out easily when looking at the wall of TVs at best buy.

or any other electronics store. I didnt even know pioneer was making TVs. Also I prefer LCDs or the new LEDs over the plasmas. The plasma starts to run.

Pioneer has been making them for a good while. The Elite Kuro is the Premium line.

I looked at a lot of the LCD tv's but didn't really care for them.

To my old eyes, that had a good bit of JITTER in fast moving scenes. But that could just be me. :rollin::eek:

I did not notice any LED tv's.

Maybe I need to go to a different place to look at some LED's.

When it comes down to it, you need to go with what suits you best. Youll be the one watching the TV. Im really intersted in checking out the pioneer. I wish I could get a 60 inch!

Nobody does plasma like Pioneer.

IMO.

Pioneer did make some of the best plasmas. They stopped making them here in April sometime, but have no fear they will still keep enough parts around and honor the long warranties of the Elites. I was thinking it was like 7 years. Plasmas are dead and the LED Tvs are what are coming out next. If I was buying a tv my Plasma would be a Pioneer, if I was buying LCD I would buy Samsung. The new Samsung LED TVs are pretty nice. But they are brand new and pretty expensive. The regular Pioneer 60" Plasma was like $2500 something at our best buy and the new Samsung LED 40" tv was like $2699.

Plasmas refresh at something like 480Hz unlike the fastest LCD does it at 120Hz. Thats why you saw the blurring in fast moving pictures.

You will love the deep blacks and the great picture of the Pioneer.

Looks nice, but hope you didnt buy it from BestBuy. Looks like they were the most expensive.

+1, Kuros are known to have very deep blacks. NICE tv!

I have a 62", i believe it 62", and it is friggin awesome, plus I only paid $750 for it. It was, at the time of purchase, one of the top 3 consumer rated tvs

:D

:P

I have a 2.5 year old Pioneer Plasma. It's not the Elite line but I've never seen a nicer panel (for it's age). I think the Pioneers are the best money can buy. They probably aren't the most 'bang for your buck' TV, meaning you could get a TV almost as good for a lot less money.

But if you have the $$ go for it!

No Porter's right. Put a Pio Elite and Vizio next to each other. No contest.

Well the Vizio is nowhere near the cost of an Elite either, bang for buck right?

Well no. But a Chevy Cobalt isn't the cost of a Saleen either.

If a guy is concerned about cost, a Kuro isn't the TV for him. But it is the best (Consumer Grade) TV that money can buy.

I didn't see anything in the original post about "bang for the buck" at ALL. He asked if anyone knew of any problems with it or had opinions (other than, I am sure "that's out of my price range" :P).

If I remember right, the extended service plan he bought on the Sony is "mostly" paying for the Pioneer he's getting. So, "bang of the buck" wasn't too much of a concern... this time. :D

I can appreciate the sentiment, though, Felix. When I was buying TV's for this place, I had a set budget. "How big of a screen can I get for THIS little money??"
