Outside Temp. Gauge

I ve had this happen before on other vehicles and wondering why. The outside temp gauge on my truck today just stayed at 42F when it was over 60F. I didn t go more than 5 miles or so but what gives? I had one stay stuck (for lack of a better word) until I hit the highway for a while and then it came back to life.

Mine does this sometimes too, really pretty annoying. I don't expect it to be exact but somewhere in the ballpark would be nice.

Mine has done that a time or two. Maybe its because the paint on the back of your truck is darker then the front.:D

Not my area of expertise, but I'm pretty sure the temp display is filtered. This prevents crazy readings because of, for example, engine heat if you've been rolling down the highway, then get stuck in traffic.

Said a different way, there's probably some dependance on speed/distance before it will start updating and you might not have reached that point with a 5 mile drive, especially if you were driving slow.

Probably interference form the new Z71 emblem on the tailgate. Looks like it's gonna have to go.

You're pushin' it now daddy. Even the funniest stuff can be overdone ya know. (i.e. W/T jokes  ).

OK , If I tell you it s off now will you stop?

To the rest of you, I think you are right about it sometimes taking time to read and update because some of you have experienced the same thing.
