just regiestered for the site yesterday ive been a member at FSC.com for while now just figured i could get twice the opinions and twice the information by being a membey at both sites. as the title shows im looking to get some more power out of my 2004 5.3L so far i have the volant CAI,custom tune, and straight pipes. im looking to go the next to and make even more power and then retune my computer to accomodate. ive had a few people reccomend nitrous and i actually found a good deal on a TB plate kit for my truck im just not sure if i should go that route or not?

Nitrous, supercharger as stated above, programmer, headers, cold air intake, thats all I cant think of, im just getting into the performance part of things, so im not sure if there is anything you can do with the coils and plug wires etc that would make a difference or not

if i could find a good deal on a charger i think id go for it def. only thing that concerns me about a charger is when i punch it and the tranny downshifts all that power is going to the rear end and tranny instantly where as with nitrous i can insert it while its in the process of accelerating

Yea, nitrous wont hurt your engine if set up properly but that is a BIG if... hell they have came a long ways with the nitrous technology, heck 5 years ago you couldnt run it in a 2 stroke snowmobile and have it last more than a run, now they have it fairly reliable in a 2 stroke, so if you can find someone who knows what the hell they are doing i would do the nitrous and if that isnt enough save your pennies and go with a supercharger, thats what I would like to have nitrous and supercharger those little rice burner cars would be in for a surprise when they tried to pass if there was a set up like that under the hood

You have got a damn good looking truck, I like those diesel rims, I damn near got them for my truck, but to many people have 8 spoke rims around here so I chose the revolver rims... You got a good set up all around with the 9 inches of lift and the 38's

+1 on supercharger. If you have concerns with the tranny being too weak for the setup perhaps it is also time to upgrade that. I had a buddy that turbocharged his 2005 truck. He got it tuned so he could still run e85. Ended up having like 750 HP running the e85. Then at some point he sucked oil into the turbo and killed it. He did upgrade his tranny so he didn't blow it.

SUPERCHARGER

NOS is the cheapest to start with, but can easily screw up a motor.

+3 on the supercharger, thay are fwonkin badass, nothing like 120 extra hp....

Welcome to the site! And +1 on the Good Looking truck!!

I am going to have to disagree with the NOS for your application. I am huge NOS fan and set up right it is an awesome power adder. As said before NOS can be very safe, but for an application want to easy on and off the throttle and want consistant power NOS is not the way to go. Spray is all or nothing. Now if you are doing mud runs that is a different story. Nitrous would be a great way to go.

If it were me. I would start off with a cam, headers, and if you are running dual exhaust you need to make sure you have an X or H pipe.

Then if you still wanted more power, I would go super charger. To get the most out of you supercharger you would really want cam and headers anyway.

Magnacharger is the way to go...IMO. I've always considered NOS to be too risky.

+1 Although I don't know much about either one :( The Magnacharger seems like a "safer" way to go.

Actually, seeing Rich's post reminds me...have you considered going with a heads/cam upgrade?
