Egr Valve Help

i was told my rough idle on my 94 blazer 4.3 vortec could be caused by a clogged egr due to it runnging rich and exaust smelling slightly of gas . is there any way to clean it to test if its the prob before i blow 89 dollars on a new one ? and also were is it located ? thanks everyone

You can pull it out and look at it. The carbon build up could be in the passage going to the EGR. You need to look at that also. Also check the throttle body for carbon build up
