Will Crew Cabs Get The 6.5 Foot Bed Ever?

I was just wondering, Dodge and Ford do it, and they suck, so why doesnt the best of the three offer it on there half-tons?

Probably didn't want to have that other wheelbase to mess with, they already cut back like 3 models of the Silverado/Sierra so they wouldn't have to spend as much.

I agree 100% they should offer the CC with a 6.5 foot bed.

Just FYI, Ford is the only player in the game with a CC 6.5 bed. The Dodge CC is like GMs with a 5.5' only. With Dodge they do still offer there quad cab and it has 6.5 bed, but its not really a crew cab, more like an extended cab with forward opening doors.

I agree that there should be an option for the 1500s to have a CC with the 6.5 bed. Spacing here in Texas is not really a big issue as it is in the northern states.

With truck sales toast and gas going up faster than the temperature rising, you will see less & less option mix from all MFR's in the future.

If they made a CC with a 6.5 it would probably hurt their ext. 6.5 sales a nice bit from the chunk of ppl who absolutely need a longer box.

But a CC with a 6.5 should be available. If you carry anything in your truck like sleds, quads, Bikes, ect. its pretty tight with the short box. On ours the track on our GTX1200 (600 pounds dry, 700ish with a full tank of gas, closer to 800 if the carriage is full of wet slobby snow) only starts to touch on the tailgate meaning half the weight is back on that. Although its not a tundra, it still bes on my mind whenever I approach a bump or anything like that, and having 2 feet of snowmobile hanging out past the tailgate dont look the best. Though you can put it on a trailer, there shouldnt be a need to with just one sled, and its a truck, your spose to put stuff in the bed!

Don't the 2500 CC come with 6.5" bed? You'd think it wouldn't be that hard to build a 1500 then :P

The 6.5' bed on the 2500HD was one of the reasons i was looking at a Dmax for my new truck... i really wanted to extra bed space.... and almost brought one home.

For them to make a 1500 CC with the 6.5" bed they'd need another frame in the lineup, which is a big deal in terms of manufacturing. The 1500 CC and 1500 EC have the same exact frame and drivetrain... so its pretty easy for an assembly line to make either truck once the platform is built.

I guess I don't have much of an issue with it. I've been able to haul whatever I needed in the back of mine. I also usually cheat too. Anything big, I use a trailer that I have. It's just easier since it has a ramp.

One of the issues for me was that on my 2005 i had the pace edwards bed cover, which i loved and wanted to put in my new truck. But since it takes up about 8" of bed space... it made my short bed even shorter (unless the stuff was flat enough to fit under the container). This is why i decided to give the Bakflp HD a shot on my new truck... now i lose 0 bed space, but if i could've gotten a 6.5' bed id have the pace edwards again without a doubt!

Although the pace edwards cover had the perfect amount of storage area beneath it for a 3-ton floor jack and a crate full of tow straps & chains..

The dodge bed is not 6.5. I was not able to close the tailgate when I had a76in piece of glass in it. It lacked by a inch or more from closing. dodge 2500 quad cab and the back seat had more room then the new chevy ext cab.

They have those in the 2500 version. I think the 1500HD's only come in a CC 6.5' version...

Really eh? Try parallel parking that baby! The looks you'd get... :P
