2009 Onstar Module

Has anyone located the OnStar module for 2009 Silverado LT? I have no intention of paying for OnStar service, but would like to swap out the OnStar module for the CoStartech "BlueStar" module. This uses all the GM Onstar equipment, the Mics, the Speakers, and the mirror buttons to have a Bluetooth speakerphone that does not have a monthly or minute fee except for your normal cell phone plan.

Would removing OnStar void any GM warranty? No wires would be cut, it just swaps out at the plugs, and can be reinstalled at a later date, if required.

No, only if you order it with a "Safety Package" for $900.00. I spent a month going to 12 dealers looking for the truck that had the options I wanted (Bluetooth was an option I wanted, but without all the other stuff that came with it), and without the options I didn't want. It's a trade off when buying the truck, because I never found the exact truck I wanted. So I got a pretty nice LT for about 19% off sticker plus a pretty good trade amount which was per Kelly BlueBook.

I really wasn't familer with OnStar and what it's cost would be, but I am the only person driving the truck, so I really don't care about it's features for that price. I would like to have the BlueStar Bluetooth in place of On-Star. Because increasing my Verizon account to a family plan, plus the monthly fee for OnStar would be about $44.00 more per month. No Thanks.

Does anyone have instructions to Remove the instrument panel lower center panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Center Trim Replacement? I am not sure if there are screws hidden or if it just pops off.

My 09 has the Bluetooth and I didn't have the safety package. LT1 package comes with bluetooth and on star. You can get a module to install the bluetooth through your on star without having to use the minutes they charge you. You can use your own cell phone. It works great.

I have the 2009 5.3 Flex fuel 1500 LT (as far as I know, they only have the WT, LT, LTZ, at least in New England, LT1 and LT2 has been dropped to my knowledge) I don't have PREFERRED PACKAGE:

STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS

AUTO DUAL ZONE AIR CONDITIONER

6-WAY PWR DRIVER SEAT ADJUSTER

BLUETOOTH FOR PHONE

$ 895.00

This was the package on the GMC, similiar one for Chevy. But every truck I looked for with this also had other stuff I didn't want.

The sticker was $34,500, it was as high as I wanted to go. I paid $20,400 after discounts and trade. I didn't want to spend $895.00 or more just to have Bluetooth built in. The BlueStar will work just as well. I have no intention of paying for OnStar or XM after the free period. BlueStar only cost $280.00 one time fee, and will work with all the OnStar equipment in the truck.

Two things: Today is the first time I have used this site, so I am not familiar with it.

I also saw all that on the other topic, but none show how the lower center panel comes out. There is a difference between the LTZ and the WT/LT dashboards. What I don't know either is if Chevy/GMC has changed any aspects of the Dashes for the new Silverados between 2007 and 2009. I have only had this truck for 3 weeks. I don't want to damage any of the panels by attempting to remove them incorrectly. Going by what I have seen for the GMC SLE, the OnStar is located behind the lower center panel and I don't have to remove the A/C controls or the Radio as others have stated on earlier year trucks.

So have you got any freebies that explain that?

OK, Thanks. I do believe I did see this earlier, but not being that familiar with just how similiar GMC & Chevy are between the model levels, I just wasn't sure, especially if there have been any changes in the 2009 models compared the the 2007 models they refer to.
