Tailpipe Change?

Recommended Posts

The tailpipe is not curved anymore. I saw a bunch of new trucks being unloaded at the dealer and they all had tailpipes that exited under the bumper and not turned? They did not look to be stainless steel either.

Those trucks were equipped with either the 6.0 or 6.2 engine,The trucks with the 4.8 or 5.3 still have the curved tailpipe that exit from behind the right-rear wheel/tire.

Thanks for the info, that is the first time I noticed it must be because they were up high and caught my eye.

I wonder what the reasoning is behind that? My 08 6.0L has the pipe exiting straight back. Maybe an exhaust noise thing; my 08 definitely sounds louder than a similar truck with the 5.3 especially at start-up on a cold engine.

My guess is because of the resonator that the 6.0/6.2's have,They can't curve the tailpipe out to the right so they just run it straight out the back.

Yep, My 6.0 ran straight out the back... shame GM doesn't do that with dual exhaust like dodge does.

If you decide to change ur exhaust, it looks like shit when the bumper has two cut-outs and no pipes.

Amen!

I hate how dodge does it, but I also don't like seeing pipes straight out the back.

Hidden or dumped is best, but out the side if not.

Depends, what tips do you have? That makes a big difference. If you have big echo tips, then no, I don't like your exhaust. But, I also know what you have planned for your exhaust, so it's all good.
