Exhaust Mod

I was sick of the ugly straight out the back exhaust my Vmax came with so this weekend I made a $6 modification.

I chopped off around 20 inches or so of the tail pipe and added a turn down. Now you can barely see the exhaust from the side or behind.

I still want to get a Corsa system eventually, but this will due until I can find a good deal on one or convince my wife I NEED it  .

Looks better. Why don't you just get a corsa muffler?

I have thought about it. I know what the Corsa Touring sounds like and I don't want it too loud. I may, but until I hear a Vmax with one, I am on the fence about it.

The Vmax are quite a bit louder and have more resonance then the 5.3's.

Looks good Robert.

There are great deals on the GMPP exhausts (mostly performance, but I've seen a few touring ones) on eBay, I think I got mine for like $340 shipped. I would get a touring next time though, or maybe turn my AFM off instead, because I do hear the dreaded AFM burp with my set up.

Looks good nice and clean. I could never figure that out why on all the New Trucks the exhaust shoots way out the back with an extremely goofy looking tail pipe. It's almost as if they forgot how long the truck really is.

I hate to say it but, Dodge really nailed it on the head with their new trucks. Dual Exhaust and have it exit out the back under the molded chrome bumper. Maybe GM will take a cue from that in the future...

Aparently it's only the trucks with the 6.0L motor. The 5.3L equipped trucks I have seen have the tailpipe exiting out to the the side just beyond the wheelwell. If more resonance is the reason for the way the 6.0 tailpipe is designed, that may make sense as it keeps further away from the windows.

That's not always a good thing. Some people like to dump the exhaust for a clean look or just have the factory look single side exit. If you change exhaust style you will have the molded rear bumper with nothing to fill in the tailpipe curvatures left behind.

I agree with you 100%. I for one am not a fan of the exhaust on the dodge trucks, but I am not a fan of rear exit exhaust. Maybe I am the odd man out when it comes to this. My first choice is hidden exhaust. Then side exit behind the tire. Then its a tie between side exit before the tire and dual out the back, but only if it has what I consider a nice tip, not a big echo tip. I cannot stand them.

Oh, and Rich. I am current in talks with some very good people about getting a Corsa Touring system for my ride
