First Time Gmc Buyer, First Time Poster

Hello everyone, pick up my truck Monday, 1500 4x4 with the 6.0. I've looked around the site and it doesn't seem to be too many 1500's with this motor. I wanted the power, because I usually ignore speed limits and I wanted the 6 speed tranny. Off road edition, Rancho shocks, everything but leather, the 3.42 rear gear, I really don't tow anything, maybe a go kart trailer once in a while. I've driven Ford's for 30 years but I wanted something bigger than the 5.4 and didn't want to go up to the V10. I just felt the GMC 6.0 was a nice "tweener" engine. Just wondering how many are out there like me with a 1/2 ton.

Oh BTW....Your gonna' need it "tuned" to get maximum power out of it!

At the very least Diablo... Really helps with throttle delay and response.

I've got one too. and love it! Only difference is mine has the 4-speed. But I've got 4.10's to help make up for the difference. The 3.42's in your truck and the 6-speed are similar to having a 4-speed with 3.73 gears I think, so you can still tow a decent amount if necessary.

I think you'll find that the 6.0 (I have a 5.3) will run circles around the V10 mod.

My 5.3 is loads better than the 5.4 ford, and you can get decent economy out of it compared with the Ford motors. I am MUCH happier all around then I was with my last Fords.

Get it tuned... it'll wake it up LOTS more...

Welcome, I got a 6.0L with the 4 speed with 3.73 gears. I suggest u tune it to get more power, better shifts, remove speed limiter. Also a cold air intake & exhaust so u can hear the 6.0L, stock exhaust is too quiet IMO. Post some pictures asap.

Welcome to the site! I have an 09' Sierra 6.0L with 6 speed as well. Waiting for Justin at Black Bear to have TCM tuning capability available through mail so I can have it tuned. Enjoy the new ride.

lol... 6.0L and 6spd will run circles around a ford v10 truck. Probably a dozen circles... Your truck even without a tune is probably 15/flat in the 1/4 mile. With a tune and exhaust/intake I wouldn't be surprised it could be capable of 13's.

ya i have a 5.3 in mine, and i find its way more fuel efficent than ford and dodge, and definatly more power than ford, but not too far from the hemi, and the 6L is more powerful than the 5.3.
