Sway Bars

I'm looking for sway bar(s) to stiffen up the handling of my '01 Silverado. What are my options? TIA

Scott,

Depending on which factory suspension pkg you have, you may be able to get a larger anti-swaybar from GM. If you are at the top of the heavy duty pkgs, you can check out Helwig for a potentially stiffer bar for the front. They also offer a rear bar.

I put Addco front sway bar on my 99. Drastic improvement over stock. Still waiting for my rear bar to show up.

Thanks guys! I will check them out. My truck is a 4.8 2WD work truck so I'm sure I don't have anything too heavy duty..what RPO's should I be looking for?

I've still been looking for better ones for my GMT900... nobody makes them for the trucks that I've seen, just the SUVs!

Or you can check out Summit Racing and see what they have. Find the bar # you need then search ebay or google for cheap prices.

Damn! I completely missed that line....

Got them on my 08 SD, and they make a HUGE difference (front + rear). I did the same to my '00 Z71, and that thing corner on rails. You really need to do the back to to flatten out the cornering. Front alone is a decent improvement, but adding the rear is VERY noticeable.

Other than flattening the truck out in the corners, what other changes did you notice in how the truck rode & drove?

I noticed better steering response in addition to the less rolls in turns.

I bet the rear is.... considering there isn't ANY stabilizer in the rear from the factory. I might just have to give these a try... I wanted to firm up the handling before adding a leveling kit to the front, in hopes that it would keep the raised center of gravity from making the truck dangerous at higher speeds.
