MikeNH Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I'll open by apologizing for the lack of a video for the moment, today has been very busy for me. I should be able to make a video next weekend. Anyhow, this morning I installed the dB exhaust system. Installation was pretty straight forward and everything fit great. Sound is incredible- it starts up with a pretty aggressive bark but settles down to a nice mild sound. Driving around town in some conditions (light throttle/cruising) I actually think the dB system is quieter than the OE exhaust, which had a nice mild burble in those conditions. But when you romp on it, the system just opens up and sounds incredible. You get a nice sound in the cab but it's never overbearing. Highway speeds offer a consistent, but again non-intrusive rumble in V8 mode. I do actually notice some resonance/drone in V4 mode but it is *very, very* mild. It is a gentle, low-frequency hum similar to running on aggressive tires. Having the radio on even at lower volume (ie how you'd have it so you could still speak with passengers easily) covers it up nicely. I can't speak for any MPG improvements because I've been driving the truck a bit hard enjoying the exhaust. My average, aver filling up 40 miles or so ago is around 12 or 13 right now. Overall this seems to be a great kit for the money, I'll have more on it soon.
MikeNH Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 That is my video actually. I ended up getting antsy yesterday and made that. There is another thread in the fullsize section with the link too.
GasHog369 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Sounds good mike. What did you end up paying for it and from where? My dads 2011 silv is craving this also.
MikeNH Posted June 26, 2011 Author Posted June 26, 2011 Summit for like $550 shipped. They don't list a fit for a 2011 with the 143.5" wheelbase (ex. cab standard bed and crew cabs) but I ordered part 24905 which is for 2010s. It obviously fit my 2011 too. Install was easy and a few in my other thread on this kit said you can slide the exhaust out in one piece if you jack the back of the truck up. I cut it into pieces because I didn't feel like using the crappy spare tire jack and sawzalls are fast anyway. Just loud. Very loud.
GasHog369 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 when i was removing my stock exhaust i tried same thing for over an hour turning it dirrefent ways, jacking up , cussing, Finally sawzalled it off and went on my way Much easier. And its almost like putting the nail in the coffin on the stock crap exhaust.
newtochevy9944 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 You have anything else done like headers? This is the sound I have been looking for in my truck!
MikeNH Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 You have anything else done like headers? This is the sound I have been looking for in my truck! No headers (shorties are a waste of money on an LSx engine) or anything else. Only other mods are Line-X and towing mirrors.
superchargedss Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 sounds pretty darn good. thanks for posting. was considering this for a new project.
Hieneken49 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I put this kit on my truck the other day and have an issue. It make s a wierd hum/whistle noise at around 3000 rpm, i loke the sound under low throttle and everything, the kits looks great, but that noise is irritating me. im not sure if i can capture it on video but ill try.
