The gov't released trade-in/sales statistics about the "Cash for Clunkers" program:

Top 10 Trades/Sold

One particular vehicle stands out in the list. Another point of note, the majority of the purchased vehicles came from foreign manufacturers. :D

I cant vouch for the Explorers/Cherokee trades. I work at a dealer & we have traded about 15 explorers & 6-7 cherokees

Something seems weird about that list... are they saying that each model year of those explorers was so significant that they could count them seperately, but the jeep grand cherokee and cherokees are the total of all of their years?

This could also mean that there are so many explorers out there because they were the #1 selling SUV during that time, and they're the only ones still on the road available for trade since all the Chevy's are broken down :D

I can hear Mike Rowe now:

"People ask me Why Ford? Why Now?

The answer is simple, here at Ford, we build more clunkers than any other manufacturer..."

And in case anyone was wondering, C4C has NOT run out of money:

Just a little thing I noticed. Last night we drove by the local GM dealer and saw the clunkers. I counted 11 at this small town dealer. Only 2 were Chevys, (early 90's Tahoes), the rest were Dodge and Fords, I saw 1 Exploder, 3 Ford Vans and a couple Dodge trucks/ vans and a Town car. All were heavily rusted and 2 Dodges had plows.

So we took a ride to the Furd dealer and they had about 16 vehicles marked at clunkers. There was no GM vehicle, 3 Dodge big vans and the rest were all Fords, some Lincolns, big Ford Vans and beat up Ford PU's. So for this dealer its Ford customers buying Fords. The GM dealer was getting converts.

With all the clunkers it would be interesting to know how many switched brands and how many just bought the same brand albeit a newer car.

Also as one salesman told me (I know him) many are dumping the 2nd vehicle i.e, winter beater.
