so it is time to get my wife a new car and she wants a 2008 Toyota RAV4 (i know i know) but over all I have to say for looking at them and test driving they seam to be a good car and it will make her happy. My question is having never bough a new car before I want to have the best information for when I go to the dealer. Have any of you ever tried websites like this http://www.fightingchance.com/ to find out all the invoice pricing and dealer inctives that are currently being run to get the best price.

Any other suggestions would be great. She has a 1995 z34 monty carlo that will will NOT be trading in but giving to her brother, the thing is a pos anyways, needs a whole new trans among other problems.

Try Edmunds.com also. I find that if you deal with the internet/fleet guy you'll get the best pricing. Play a couple of dealers against each other. If you know what you want as far as color and options then you can pretrty much get thewhole deal done without even stepping foot into a dealer. Good Luck an have fun!!

I'm going to have to look into these sites for sure.

I have pretty good connections in the world of GM but the wife really wants a new 08 Accord EX with leather. The darn Honda stores are selling them for a whopping $300 discount! On a $28,000 car no less! This deal is gonna have to get a lot sweeter before I cough up that kind of change. Our 06 Accord was under 22K out the door.

When pricing, I visit multiple dealers directly from their webite. All dealers have an internet person.

I do do my homework first and find out what the invoice price is. kbb.com and edmunds.com. I do allow dealer to make a profit. But that is subjective as there is holdbacks and dealer only incentives and such.

I simply ask the dealer internet person for their full complete delivered price (with no add-ons or prep fees). The bottom line price. Including all fees. And depending on state - minus sales tax/local tax. Some states make one purchase or obtain temporary plates. It can get confusing. But you probably know your own state.

Do it by email and have them send you the actual price. Print it out before going to dealer.

If you are financing, do your homework here too. Dealers have been known to 'fudge' the interest rate and place a few added fees at end of very fine small print.

my wife just got an 08 subaru, outback for $2500 off a $26K sticker. She dorve the rave 4, honda crv and I had to force her to try the outback and guess what?? She liked the outback best. It also leased better than the other two also.

Mark, is that your house in your sig? And I'm assuming somewhere around your house in the subaru pic? The living looks nice!

I like the Outback too. It's a sweet car, especially in snow country. My wife isn't much on wagons though.

The new 08 Accord EX is a really nice car with the 265 Horse V6 and leather. Not sure what we will get at this point. I wish GM could offer me more than half of my money back in resale after 2-3 years... I'd consider an 08 Malibu if so. Unfortunately they flood the fleet and rental market with all of their cars which kills the resale value 2 years down the road.

Looks like I'll buy another Honda and recover 80 - 90% of my investment when I sell it.

Simple dollars and cents.

It never ceases to amaze me what a Honda gets for resale. Honda almost has a cult following. The price for a good used Honda is always high/good.

On and off, I look for a Civic hatchback used and the high miles ones still garner a very high price. And what still gets me is that people do pay much for these.

We've had 2 new Hondas and neither one of them was ever taken back to the dealer for a single repair. Both never had a single problem while I owned them. I like that. In fact I like that a LOT.

I wish I could say the same for my trucks!

Don t want to hi jack his thread but I m in upstate NY, Adirondack Mountains. Pleanty of Lakes, Snow and not alot of people. Half the population is weekender resort type homes and then the locals. Not much money to be made here either. A good place to retire. Stop in and visit anytime. :)
