So what do you guys think? I can get a nice 10 year old trailer (26') for 5k or a nice 13 year old motorhome for 7k. I have a ski boat I like to take along when camping but we always go with a group of folk so getting one of them to tow the boat when I got the trailer should be ok. Besides as the family grows a Yukon looks emminet which could take the boat. But the motorhome is perfect when just the family goes for a long day trip. Only draw back is you can't run around when camp is set with a motorhome unless you tow a car. I cant .."legally" tow a boat and a trailer here like in the other NW states, lame. Any ops from you guys?

I bought a TT since I could unhook and leave it if i had to get some beer. Otherwise if you're all settled in, motorhome hooked up to the site, you have to undo everything to drive out for something.

TT

I currently have both. The RV sits most of the year cuz we use the toy hauler to get the dirtbikes to the camping areas and like 90454SS said it's nice to unhook so you can go to the market or wherever and leave everything all set up.So the TT gets my vote

I camp with people who have both. The ones who have to "run around" have trailers. The rest of us have motorhomes.

To me camping is camping, if you aren't prepared and have to run around, just get a cabin or stay home. ;)

Seriously. it's your choice, but the motorhomes are much more comfortable and more fun on the trips. It sucks being crammed into a pickup or SUV for a long ride. You don't have to stop for anything and they are usually fully self contained. Most trailers don't have all the nice commodities like a motorhome comes from the factory with (hydraulic jacks, a generator, etc.)

Many people go from a trailer to a motorhome, very few go from a motorhome to a trailer.

Motorhomes are also more expensive. IMO, that is the main reason people choose a trailer over a motorhome (besides the excuse to buy a truck)............

I wanted a class c; wife wouldn't let me buy it. With 3 kids we park the trailer, take the bicycles to a trailhead or the kids to a waterpark or some sight to see.

Then when my buddy with a class c talks me into going with him to a 2 day offroad cycle ride, he cracks a side cover on his bike and it's off to find a welder or epoxy. In 30 years of offroading, I've never cracked a side cover. Not fun driving around that behemoth to find a country auto parts store.

What I dont get is Motorhomes are really reasonable. I dotn wanna spend more then 6k since 1st timer here. TT are about 2-3 time higher priced then NADA book!!! People are nuts! I can get a new 07 for 12k or they want $8k for a 94'. Retarded. When you bring up the fact their rig has been on CL for 4 months they look at you blankly...lol. "You may be over priced if no-one even offers you on your TT buddy.", I'll say...blankness continues. :rollin:

I bet alot are asking payoff....many people got into the camping scene when money was cheap and easy to be had. Put nothing down and financing for 15 years got you a low payment but 5-6 years down the line, the nut is still high. We're looking for a new or slightly used TT and the deals are there if you find them. We're also looking for a specific floorplan which you couldn't do that well if looking at used but the economy has forced out a few for us. Good luck on your search!
