  1. Installed two new MOOG upper control arms. Changed the oil and filter with Penzoil Platinum 0W20 and a Wix filter. Pulled 4 quarts of trans fluid out the dipstick with a hand operated vacuum pump. 4 new quarts of GM synthetic fluid back in. Set the tire pressures and rotated the tires for alignment on Monday. Tomorrow, is wash day for the truck and my wife's car. Salt all over them.
  2. What wheels are these and where did you get them? Thanks, Eddie
  3. Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 and a Wix filter every 5000 miles.
  4. Rolled the hose up and put the chocks away. JK. I went from stock 18" to stock 20" wheels. The 20" are what came on the truck from the factory. I bought the truck used and it came with the 18" on it in the top picture.
  5. Subtle change for the good.
  6. Yesterday I changed the transmission fluid and filter. Today, I did the seafoam thing to hopefully clean the carbon deposits that could be happening on the intake valves. Unbelievable how dirty the trans fluid was in 70000 miles. It looked like coffee or muddy water.
  7. Can you tell me where you found the deal? I have been wanting to put new shocks on my truck also. For that price, it might as well be the 5100's. I was thinking of going thr 4600 route.
  8. Seems like I saw a hole in the tube about halfway down IIRC. Every time I wash my truck I usually squirt those tubes out with water. I usually squirt water into the holes in the frame to chase debris out. EVERYTIME I make sure to wash the edges of the wheel wells good with water and chase all the loose dirt and crud out. In the winter after salt has been put down, I come home and use the lawn sprinkler under my truck to rinse it off as best as I can.
  9. Turns out I got the stake pocket covers also posted earlier. So both have been installed.
  10. I got the frame plugs and the stake pocket covers for mine. Installation time about 10 minutes with hunting for a dead blow hammer to get frame plugs seated.
  11. I got the frame plugs for Christmas. Gonna install them in a few minutes once things calm down a bit around here. Thank to my wife.
  12. With so many of you guys experiencing this, it's one time mine is different. I haven't had a problem filling mine since I got it. I always fill up at the same Exxon station. Usually the same pump too. I set it wide open and wash my windshield. The pump will cutoff when the tank gets full. I then top it to the next round dollar.
  13. I use aCar app on my phone. Input the mileage and gallons added to the tank and it does the calculations for you. It's always about 1 - 1.5 MPG lower than the DIC.
  14. One thing I would do is check my oil level and make sure it is not over the top line on the dipstick. In fact GM recently backed off on 8.5 quarts of oil and dropped back to 8 which should probably be about halfway between low and full on the dipstick. Check your tire pressures and make sure they are at the recommended pressures at least or where you like to run them. I run mine at about 35 PSI. Check the air filter and see how it looks. My 2014 has 70000 miles on it and I am currently averaging 23.XXX mpg for the last 27k miles. I bought the truck with 42k and that is when I started tracking it. 15. I haven't bought any fluid yet but need to in order to get this done over the holidays. I see there are two versions of AC Delco Dexron VI in gallon jugs on Amazon. Which did you buy? Any reason for one over the other?
  16. I like this idea and for around $50 if you shop it, this can be beneficial. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/185537-how-to-remote-spin-on-transmission-filter-kit/
  17. I like this idea. Especially since I am seeing that you have to loosen the exhaust at the manifolds to get the pan to clear the crossover pipes. I am at 75K on mine and think this would be added insurance. How is this working for you after a few months. Everything still nice and clean? Any issues? Leaks? Anything you would have done different? Anyone else done this?
  18. I've only had my 14 for the last 25k miles. It currently has 70k on it. I haven't gotten this letter yet but I sure don't want to replace the radiator. I have already got to replace the upper a arms because of worn out ball joints. Seems they just about have engineered failure to 3 years now. Since I have had the truck, a little over 14 months now, recall on the hitch, seat belt and now a cycling thermostat or worse a cracked radiator.
  19. Thanks for the tip. I just got my annual bonus. If I have any left over I may look into a set of 5100. A new house and there are a few things that we need still so just maybe I can swing a set.
  20. Changed oil, rotated tires and set air pressures, new wiper blades and ca in air filter. Also found out that I have a bad ball joint.
  21. Did you ever figure this out? Mine makes a pop sound when turning sharp in parking lots. Today when I was rotating tires, I did the checks you do when you have it lifter, Push/Pull on the top and bottom of the wheel. Push/Pull on the left and right side of the tire. I found some movement when working the top and bottom of the wheel. So I think I am looking at ball joints, either upper or lower. I will look closer when my son comes over for Thanksgiving this week.
  22. My truck has the Z60 and was hoping to make it through this thread with something definitive that would make it ride a little better over rough pavement. There are a several places in the pavement of the roads, on my way to work, where the pavement overlaps and makes a line that rattles the whole truck. I do like the idea of a spring rate change. I bet that would help most of the jarring that is occuring. It seems its mostly the front suspension that is stiffest to me. I use my truck to mostly haul small loads a few times a summer. I pull a small lawn trailer around a few times a summer also. So I do not use mine as a truck as often as some. I do however put about 25k miles a year on it, so I do spend a lot of time in the truck would like it to be less jarring for me.
  23. Cool thread. I see some Christmas ideas I can give out.
  24. To do this oil change do I need to go ahead and buy a cover gasket? I know in the past the gasket may have torn on me. I don't know how I did any work on my vehicles before the internet. Ha!
  25. I bought mine used in October 2015 with 42k. It is currently easing into 70k and runs great. I am averaging 23.45 mpg over the time I have had the truck. So far I am happy with the truck. It does have some rattling noise in the door trim that I can't seem to fix. Otherwise it's been good so far.
