Ive read a bunch of previous post but am still on what plug would be the best, its seems like champion is the brand but what about the tips copper iridium or platinum. now its a stock 8.1 but i plan to do a tune, exhaust, and intake. so please let me know what you guys think. the truck has 66,000 on it and was plowed with and pulled a trailer before i got it. so i figure it couldnt hurt to change them now. thanks

Go with the correct AC Iridium plugs. DO NOT regap them. It will ruin the plug. If the gap isn't correct, on one or more, take them back. The iridium is a coating and will crack and fail if you regap.

tHANK YOU MARK, SO THATS THE BEST PLUG TO GO WITH NO MATTER IF THE MOTOR STAYS STOCK OR TUNED?

aLSO WHY ARE ALL THESE OTHER PEOPLE SWEARING BY CHAMPION PLUGS. AND WHY WOULD A STEP COOLER PLUG? BE BETTER THAN OEM, AND HOW DOES THE PLUG DETERMINE HOT OR COLD? GAP I WOULD IMAGINE.

HOW DO I CHECK THE GAP IF I CANT SLIDE THE LITTLE TOOL IN TO CHECK. THANKS

If your putting new plugs in your spark plug wire are most likely bad too. This is what I installed in mine, I bought Autolite iridium plugs. This is a major bang for the buck, your wires are only 6" long, that makes these wires 25 ohms per foot. Stock is like 165-185.

AC Delco is the way to go. I would use ACD wires, or Napa premium.

Ok i got some plug info i called the gmc dealer and they gave me a # 41-983 does that sound right?

$11 a piece. the parts store was $9 each but not in stock. they said they could give me Autolite double platinum for $5.47 each.

What should i do and if i get the ac delco is that the right part #. they also said the gap was 60,000 is that correct?

41-983 is the correct plug. It does have an .060 gap

You can buy them on Ebay for $7 per plug incl. shipping

I put in the new plugs yesterday and was concerned when i notice a grayish/yellowish color and powder on t them, which told me the truck was lean (right)? When i called the dealer he looked in some manual it it said that color and small amount of dust was normal??? What have you guys seen when you pulled your plugs
