Convert From Rear Doors To Liftgate?

This is on a 2000 Yukon XL that came from the factory with the rear doors. Can these easily be converted to a liftgate with the parts from a donor truck?

 

Anyone ever done this?

 

Are the internal components the same on either setup?

It can be done however the thing that you have to remember is the attachement point are different and will require drilling/body work for them to be correct. The internal components are not the same in the least...the only things that would be the same would be small trim items and connectors at best.

Easy? Probably not, especially for me. How about keeping the bottom of the Barn doors, and message the glass hatch in. like the Astro and expedition? That would take more than an afternoon. I have always found the barn doors just wide enough to hide a police car. Hate them.

I hate the doors from the lack of visibility, to getting no protection in the rain, to the spring loading that whaps back and hits me, etc.

 

Has anyone ever done this swap?
