How-To: Add Console and Leather GMT800 Pickup.

I recently purchased a 04 Silverado with a manual transfer case and the 40/20/40 bench in cloth. I wanted a center console and leather captains chairs. The manual shifter presented a problem, but I was able to get the console in and still have access to the shifter. Below are some pics and the steps you need to follow, to get the job done.

p.s. If you want to keep the Bose sub and amp, stop reading, its not possible.

Tools Needed – 9/32, 11mm and 5/8 sockets, Phillips head screw driver, jig saw

Remove the trim around the gauge cluster (comes right off, just pull straight out). Remove the glove box and the trim under the steering wheel. Remove the old seats

The new console will need to be completely disassembled so you can remove the air ducts (if it has the rear air vents), the Bose sub and the amp.

Cut the console like the picture below. You will need to cut and test fit to make sure you can put the truck in 4 high and low. If it hits the console, take it back out and cut some more. After the case clears the shifter, you can put it in place and start working on the plastic trim.

Cut the outside plastic like the picture below. Cut and test, cut and test, cut and test. Once you get close, attach the outside plastic piece to the case and test fit some more.

After the case and outside plastic clear the shifter, reassemble the console and install. Don't forget to plug in the 12v outlets from the dash. Don't ask how I found this out….haha

Before you secure the console to the dash, make sure to put the new glove box assembly in.

very nice, I've been thinking about doing this for a long time.

Then it just popped into my head, what about the 4WD.

Does the air on the console even work?

I know it has the cover down there behind the dash trim which can of course be removed.

But is there anything back there to connect the air to?

You said remove air, but do they go back in? or did you have to leave it out for the shifter?

Not that I much care, I'm in the front seat lol

How easy is it to shift? Looks like a bit of a hard angle to get at it

The air to the back seats does not work. I had to be removed for the shifter. I'm sure it could be mod'ed and installed, but like you said, I don't sit in the back.

Its actually pretty easy to shift....I still need to put some back trim around the edge of the cut out. Kinda dress it up a bit.

Cool, now I just have to find one cheap for a tan interior, which don't seem to be too common.

Is the shifter comletely under the console or does some of still stick out so you can get ur hand on the top?

It's hard to tell from the pic.

Maybe if you get a sec. you could add a pic from above?

Did you have to change the glove box trim panel or just use the one that was in there originally ... The reason I ask is I just bought a console and am looking for the glove box dash trim panel that it mounts to

Did you have to replace that glove box trim panel with the one that goes with the floor console OR did you use the one that originally came in the truck
