So I think I'm gonna do it. Place here in SA quoted me $1150 for a 'factory' sunroof installed, I'm going to try to get some pics as it goes. Any of ya'll have experience with aftermarket sunroof installation?

i had one installed on my 07. webasto in roof. not a fan never do it again. bad install, leaked, rattled a lot (they replaced both tracks and glass after 8 months and it only helped it a lil bit. and headliner looked terrible when they were done. installers were autosound in norwood ma. it was a huge factor in why i traded it in. so i had a bad exp obviously.

i have never heard anything good from aftermarket sunroof installs. thats the reason i have never had one put in. either buy a vehicle with one already installed or leave it alone. the most common problem i have heard is the leaking issue.

Didnt have mine done yet but have used vehicles with sunroofs installed by Classic Soft Trim and they have always done a great job...problem is finding one that can show you proof of their workmanship.

I don't have first hand experience but this is what I have always heard as well.

So is webasto the normal brand of sunroof they use for yukons/tahoes? I was a little worried about the leak issue, glad I asked....

I had webastos power installed in my last truck and loved it. Never an issue in 5 years. Factory look too. I think the entire issue with sunroofs is the installer, not the roof. Make sure you ask for references so you don't have issues.

I'd do it again in a heart beat.

Back in the mid-80's I had a 1979 Mustang that I installed a sunroof in myself. It was an auto-store sunroof. Taped the template onto the roof and went to town with a jigsaw.

No leaks.....EVER! :dunno:

I had a Webasto installed in my '04 Malibu when it was about a year old. I used it for 4 years until I traded it in and the only problem I had with the sunroof was a fried main board about 3 years into it. I'm not sure what happened to it, but the installer replaced the board no cost.

It never leaked and automatically closed itself when I turned off the engine (you could override on warm days, etc) so I never left it open during a pop-up storm.

I'd definitely consider getting one installed again in my truck, but $1000 plus is a little hard to swing now.

Yeah, its either Webasto or Inalfa. These are the two OEM suppliers for most vehicle manufacturers out there.
