Service 4wd

I have the Auto Trak TCase in my 99. Whenever I use Auto 4WD I get the Service 4WD light after 5 minutes. If I shut the truck off for a few minutes it works again. If I drive in 4HI I don't have this problem. Only in Auto 4WD. While I was getting a tune last weekend from Blackbear I asked Justin if he could read my TCase codes. It came up as C0376 which is Front/Rear Shaft Speed Mismatch. TCCM and switch are new. What could cause this? Winter will be here soon and I want this fixed before then. Thanks.

Cool, thanks. I have the FSM at home so maybe it will have some diagnostic info. I was just curious to see if anyone else has had a similar problem.

No problem, thanks anyway. I checked the FSM and the procedures for checking C0376. It focuses on C0300 and the rear sensor. I forgot that I had another Chassis code which I couldn't remember until I read the FSM. C0300 which is Rear Speed Sensor Malfunction. Looks like I need to replace the sensor.

Rear tires worn substancially more than the front? That will cause the front shaft to spin faster than the rear and put strain on the t-case.

UPDATE:

Well this weekend I got a chance to crawl under the truck to check some other things and I noticed the speed sensor on the T-case was unplugged. Plugged it back in and all is well. No idea how it came out.

Those are my favorite repairs. Quick and cheap!
