1998 Gmc Z71 Ext Cab

Both the drivers side and passenger side doors will not shut all the way and they rattle constantly. The truck has 204,000 miles on it and mechanically runs perfectly. But the doors are not shutting and rattle constantly. Really the only problem I have ever had with this truck. Its been a work horse. What is the fix for the doors

If you can lift on the bottom corner of the door and it has free play before the cab moves you need to repace the door hinge pins because the bushings are worn out. it helps to have at least 2 people and a jack or engine hoist to do this as the door will need to be supported when you change the pins. There is a tool available to compress the door springs for removal. I got mine from princess auto in canada here. They called t a gm door spring tool
