Heater Core

After cleaning the inside of my windshield, I notice a film after about a week....I believe it's the heater core...Has anyone changed this and if so how and where is it?

Do you get a fogged up windshield when you turn on the defroster? Can you smell coolant in the cab? If not, it's not a heater core.

Can't smell coolant as for the defroster I'll let you know tomorrow...

Terry, If it's leaking, you'll definitely smell it. I've had probably 3 heater cores leak in my lifetime. All of them smelled of coolant, and all fogged the windshield.

+1 Every core I've had over the years that went bad, you could smell it and had fogging that took longer to dissipate than ordinary moisture. Is your coolant level dropping in the tank?

 

I get a film on mine occasionally and I have no leaking core

Thanks for all the input guys...I tried the defroster this mornin' and everything was OK...So thanks "spurshot" What you said makes sense....But I will keep tabs on it....

BTW: just to show you how much of a GENIUS I am..... 42 years ago, i was in college-at a party, there was a guy who said,"Why doesn't somebody start a 'fast food chain like Mickey D's for MEXICAN FOOD???"
