In Need Of New Shocks

I have one front and one rear shock leaking on my Siverado, anyone upgrade the shocks on their NBS Chevy?

I hardly ever go off road, but I do haul a large Toy Hauler. Any suggestions?

Bilstein shocks are the gas shocks used by GM to make your truck into a Z-71.......

... by all accounts, these are good shocks

... a couple hundred bucks should be enough for a set of 4 from an on-line supplier

... I have KYB Gas-a-just, they are a few bucks cheaper, and I have been pleased with the ride of the truck for daily driving and occasional travel trailer pulling... and they have a lifetime warranty

Are the Bilsteins pretty "soft" in regards to ride quality. I'd sure like to find some shocks that will make this 2500HD ride a little better. Didn't know which shocks were prefered for ride quality.

i would go with monroe sensatrack's or reflex shocks.sensatrac's have a better ride .reflex work better on large taller truck's and towing with out destroying the ride .

I replaced the stock Tenneco shocks on my 99 ext cab Z71 with Bilsteins and found the ride to be firmer. The truck felt nice and solid going over highway expansion joints and such.

I never had to replace my shocks yet and my truck will soon be 7 years old! I find it really strange how OEM shocks have lasted this long considering my truck is a work truck and hauls heavy weight at times. I do remember many years ago when I had a Ranger and having to replace blown shocks in the rear and the much better improved ride quality of new after market shock. It also made the truck feel higher up for some reason.

It's been awhile since I ever bought shocks, but I do remember certain shocks that had lifetime warranties which were good to have. Because I had to have the shocks replaced again on my Ranger and the lifetime warranty took care of it for free. I believe NAPA offered a LTW on their brand of shocks.

Bilsteins or KYB will be the best bang for your buck. Monroe is Ok. You get what you pay for though. I stuck with Monroe on another truck, they don't compare to the Bilsteins.

Monroe was the brand I used on my Ranger many years ago, they came with a lifetime warranty at the time and needed to be replaced again after only 30,000 miles.

I think Monroe dropped their Lifetime Warranty on certain products

Edit: Checked their site. They still offer limited lifetime on Reflex, Sensa trac and gas magnums
