Leftover 2009 Silverado Z71s

Hi Everyone,

I am a Chevy guy from a Chevy family and am about to purchase my first full-size Chevy truck.

After reviewing my options, I decided on the 2009 Silverado 1500 Extended Cab 5.3L Z71. It stickers at a hair over $34,000.

Being it is the end of the model year, I went to 2 local dealers that had leftover Z71s. I test drove one and loved the power and ride. But, the best they could do after discounts and rebates was a $4,000 discount, down to $30,000. I have good credit and have purchased new Chevys since 1964 (A 283 Malibu was my first), so I was expecting a little better discount than they were offereing.

Do you think it is possible to purchase a leftover 2009 Silverado 1500 Extended Cab 5.3L Z71 in the ballpark of $23,000-$24,000?

Thanks in Advance,

Z71Lover

The rebate has been increased to $ 6k on 2009 new trucks. Plus whatever additional discount you get, plus $ 500 is you decline the 60 day return option. I would say that at least $ 9k off the sticker should be a good deal.

I got the same truck in May for 19% off sticker AND they gave me trade-in book value for my 2001 car. Sticker was 34,560.00

I did pay cash though, that may have had something to do with it.

I just picked up my new Sierra and after rebates paid $30,000. Some of the trucks in W/T trim can be had for less. Are you trading anything?

I have a 2004 Impala LS, but I am selling it to my youngest son instead of trading it.

The dealers I have been to are driving a harder bargain than I expected. They are only offering $4-6K off. I was thinking about how can I get to $9-10K off sticker. I was thinking about getting a GM card to get the number down more. Like I said, the Z71 I want is $34K and I really can't spend more than $24K. Which incentives can I leverage when I negotiate with the salesman to get the price to around $23-$24K?

My 2009 Sierra CC sticker price was $38,800. I got the dealer to settle for $29,175

Wow! Good deal and nice truck. Which incentives did you get?

As I posted in the other thread (Tried to Buy 2009 Sierra Today), Kenosha Chevrolet has a new 2009 Silverado 4X4 extended cab, with sticker of $ 35k, for about $ 25k to the general public. This is a CARMAX store so no haggling is necessary and no other fees apply. Plus additional $$ off if you have a GM card.

Just over 29,9 for my crew cab $wd Z71 with the 6 speed. After driving the 6 speen, i wouldnt go with anything else and im a fan of the 4L60. It just does a better job of keeping the 5.3 in the power band.

I doubt you'll get a new 09 for 24K. I think 6k off is all there going to do. I got my 08 last year for $26K with a sticker of just under $36K. Good luck and don't settle until you get the deal you want. I was looking for 6 months and went to every local stealer ship around. No one could find a black on black (cloth) 4x4 anywhere. All I found locally had leather and they didn't want to deal so where did I find my truck?

50 miles South of where I live completety by chance, I checked the GM web site and build my truck and low and behold I found it. But don't be afraid to walk way, I did about 6 or 8 times.

+1 I looked WELL over a year. They tried to sell me everything but what I wanted (z71 with cloth and center console not the bench seat) I finally after telling them nicely I got ugly and told them "there was no way in hell they would sell me a truck that was not absolutely like I wanted". So they got on the computer. Put in my stuff and found one in Kentucky (I'm in Mississippi but bought the truck out of Memphis) so over 500 miles away is the closest they found my truck.

Don't settle for just getting a new truck. Make sure you get exactly what you want no matter what. You'll never regret it. My father still regrets getting his '04 duramax in ext. cab instead of crew

Excellent point. After all, you're the one writing the check, so you should be paying for what you want, not what the dealer is trying to get out of its inventory.

Walking away is the key. I shopped for about four months. Serious shopping too; I walked away from a deal over $100. I think that's what did him in. I didn't buy a Z71, but I did buy a '09 Ext cab LT1 for $26,500 with a GM bed mat. Don't be afraid to walk away from paying too much. Especially if you do that to the same dealer several times; that's what worked for me.

Walking away is definitly key. I got a call from both dealers this morning. One wants to sell me a leftover 2009 1500 4.3 W/T, because he says that's the only truck I can get off their lot for less than $24K (what a load of B.S.). The other called and tried to push a 2009 1500 4.8 W/T on me. Neither would budge on price, and neither cared I said I wanted a 5.3 Z71. They are just desperate to get inventory off their lot. So they can keep them until they are prepared to make a legit deal.

I was quoted $30,500 for an 09 Silverado CC Z71 LT with leather, tow, cargo mgmt, Interior and Exterior Plus Packages a few weeks ago. I think you can do much, much better on an extended cab! For what it is worth.. I gave $26,800 for my 08 in Feb 08. I'll sell it to ya!
