Really Ups?

So I received my Dominator II sidesteps today from a user on GMF and the box looked like it had been run over by a few trucks then attacked by a pack of dogs. I had read stories about packages from UPS being torn up but didn't think it would be this bad. I picked up the package from my apartments office and they said I should have seen the way the guy carried them in. I barely got them from the office to my apt. On the way to my apt a piece actually fell out of the box so no telling how many times that had happened already. Luckily the delivery man didn't deliver it personally to me or I would have had some words with him. And luckily it doesn't look as though there is any damage to the steps except for a tiny ding it looks like on the end which looks like the paint may be chipped a little bit. I took some pictures just now but they are with my cell and in bad lighting. The styrofoam part is the piece that fell out of the box.

Damn that sucks. I got my N-Fabs box from UPS that way but nothing inside was missing or damaged. I now find a diffrent delivery company if I can when I order stuff.

That's just the way it goes... I've shipped rifles thru UPS before and they were very well packaged. Out of 20-30 I had two with broken stocks. Had to make a claim with UPS. My cousin used to work around Christmas stocking the trucks. He said the guys would beat the crap out of most boxes. Anything marked FRAGILE or Handle with Care was thrown twice and hard. Their favorite were Dell and Gateway PC monitors.

Man I've never had problems with UPS. But never really shipped anything that big before. The box that my lift came in a few days ago was torn on one corner but wasn't too bad. What would the claim process be like? Think I'd be able to get anything even though it was just one little mark on the edge?

I work at UPS and big boxes are more likely to get damaged on the belts. Fedex will tear up boxes too. Both UPS and Fedex fill the trailers to the max and packages that are not pack completely tight get smashed. And yes fragile labels boxes get "extra special care" from our caring employees.

People in this country really need to take more pride in their jobs. So many people are without a job now and theres people who don't want to work and don't give a damn about there job. Products that are made here would be so much better if the people making them would acctually care about the quality of them.

UPS = United Parcel Smashers

Plus, anything coming from the US to Canada for shipping on parts, etc, always get a HUGE service or brokerage fee, that's why I use USPS, since it's cheaper, although a tad bit slower

X2. It's all fun and games until you loose your job. Can't blame anyone for not wanting to do business with any outfit that does not respect the customer or themselves.

Problem is that it is accepted nowadays as normal. Just like having to press 1 for english(just wait, soon it will be 1 for spanish, 2 for english). Or buying chinese made crap only to have it break a week later. Or standing in line for 20 minutes at Wal-Mart. Need I go on?

This country is in trouble folks.

I worked at Fedex 13 years ago, and the same thing was going on then.

I worked at UPS for 4 years, first loading tractor-trailers then to a supervisor. I've seen many packages the way you are describing. Our building shipped out about 20,000 packages a night and maybe about 10 a night ended up that way. It could have been many things. Caught up on a conveyor belt and other packages smashed it, poor loading by a loader, bad packaging by the shipper, or many other things. By no means am I making excuses for them, its just for 4 years on a nightly basis, I've seen the operation. I had one thing shipped through them delivered to me that way also. Telling the driver off would solve nothing because he doesnt even touch the package until he takes it off of his truck and walks it to your door, he doesnt even load his truck. You could call and complain to UPS and/or file a claim if there are damages. However, from what I understand, a claim takes weeks to months to go through. Just my 2 cents, I'd be pretty mad if I were you too.
