I just bought a new 09 sierra denali and i have been searching for some answers for a few engine questions about the 6.2 engine. Any help is appreciated.

#1- Does the 09 have the DOD (active fuel managemet) system or is this going to be only in the upcoming 2010 model.

#2- Compression ration

#3- Pistons, forged or hyperutactic

#4- Rods, forged i-beams or other

#5- Crankshaft, forged or cast

Again, any help or a link to the technical data is greatly appreciated. This engine is all new to me and i am really looking to see what the strength of the rotating assy is.

I can tell you that your Rods are 99.9999% chance they are Powdered metal

crank will be cast

your compression ratio will be around 9.5:1

and the pistons should be cast, but they could be either really.

Thanks for the link, everything I was looking for. Compression ratio 10.5:1, No afm as you stated, powder metal rods and caps, nodular iron crank and hyper pistons. I guess if supercharging was in the future, boost would have to be kept to a minium or a forged rotating assy would be in order lol  .

Intresting note, I did read somewhere that new for the MY2010 the 6.2 was going to get AFM. I am actually glad mine does not come with it.

It will handle 8psi with some good tuning and 94 octane. the bottom end is plenty strong. its a 6-bolt same as all other LS-style engines.
