You live with me here in New England- why on earth do you want to spend the money for something you'll be able to enjoy maybe 7 days a year?

I have the same issue where I live!

I like it for the extra light in the cab. I don't open it hardly ever (morning or evening drives, that's it), but the extra brightness is worth the dough.

Just wanted to give anyone an update. I fixed the sunroof myself a while ago, it's 4 screws to get it out, the seal is a PIA, took an hour to get it on but once you get the hang of it it's just tedious. Centering the glass wasn't that bad, you can just kind of feel it when you're installing it, I got it right the first time and everything is copacetic!

check the drain tubes. there is no other reason for these sunroofs to leak

Actually... they were identified in a TSB that some DID leak due to the seal. The replacement seal part no. is different, I haven't had any problems since replacing it. The seal was about $60 and I did the labour myself (which was a b*tch, might I add. Those seals are TIGHT)

The roofs are designed that they DO let a bit of water through, into channels (gutters) that are built into the frame, and then dribbles out through the drain tubes (which are on the drivers side front and back corners of the roof). What was happening is that the seal from factory was letting too MUCH water through, the 'gutter' was overflowing before it could run out the drain tube, and the water would spill on to the roof liner, and to the top of the A and B pillars.

I know a few months back People were complaining about the sunroof leaking on the Silverados/Sierras.

I've always considered a sunroof (I currently drive a jeep, and love the open-air), but I get nervous with them. Every older car with a sunroof I've been in has had some sort of leaking.

Is it safe to order the sunroof? Or should I save 1200 and just get a solid roof?

Mine has a little water at the front edge after going through one of those touchless high pressure car washes. It seems that the window doesn't fit tight on the front edge (you can easily push it up/down at the front).

Doesn't leak in the rain though, and never had them leak on the past several vehicles I've owned.

Its normal for sunroofs to leak when in high pressure washes.

My 2011 has not leaked and our 2002 Yukon never leaked. I have no use for the things but when you buy off the lot at the end of the year it seems they all have them....

My 09 Silverado had one, no problems. My 2011 has one, no problems yet. Had at least 6 vehicles equipped with em'. Only trouble I had was the after market one I had my buddy's shop install in my 94' GMC. That one really only started leaking after another buddy tried to close it from outside the locked truck because I left it open and it was starting to rain. Dunno why he just did not come back inside and tell me...lol...

Mine leaked when it was new. Water was coming at the dome light area. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong. It leaked again about a year later, same thing. Brought it to new dealer (original dealer went out of business) and they replaced the seal. Wasn't covered under GM extended warranty. It leaked again once after that, same thing. I didn't want the sunroof, but I couldn't find a truck (LTZ) within a 1,000 miles of me when we were looking for one. I never use the thing. Usually, I just leave the cover closed altogether.
