Gmt900: Ve They Worked Out The Sunroof Problem?

I know a few months back People were complaining about the sunroof leaking on the Silverados/Sierras.

 

I've always considered a sunroof (I currently drive a jeep, and love the open-air), but I get nervous with them. Every older car with a sunroof I've been in has had some sort of leaking.

 

 

Is it safe to order the sunroof? Or should I save 1200 and just get a solid roof?

Mine (07 Silvy) leaked. It leaked when it was brand new, but the dealer could not duplicate. It would only leak when it sat out under an extened rain. Finally, I brought it to the dealer and they replaced the entire seal. Unfortunately, the seal is not covered by the GMPP, ended up costing me $250.

The wifes 04 Suburban has a sunroof. No issues after 115,000 miles

Skip the sunroof. I've owned 4 vehicles with a sunroof. 2 leaked, 2 did not. Its a crap shoot.

 

 

Besides, that $1200 could be put towards new shoes for the truck.

No trouble with my 01 Tahoe in 7 years 230K miles and my 08 is showing no problems at 45K.

No issues here either (I do not have one on my Silverado )

 

But I have sunroofs on other vehicles and never had any problems. My Mazda 626 is 10 years old with a power factory sunroof and no leaks to date. And I have several mid 80's Mercedes cars with sunroofs and no leaks.

I havent had any issues with mine yet (only 5000 km)..and my 2000 GTP i just sold had almost 200,000 km and the sunroof was perfect on that as well

for 2010 you have to get an LTZ to get the sunroof option.

07 SD sunroof leaking after a torrential downpour. I've never noticed it before. It is leaking on the passenger side. Where would I look to see if the drains are plugged?

check the drain tubes. there is no other reason for these sunroofs to leak

Mine has a little water at the front edge after going through one of those touchless high pressure car washes. It seems that the window doesn't fit tight on the front edge (you can easily push it up/down at the front).

 

Doesn't leak in the rain though, and never had them leak on the past several vehicles I've owned.
