Hey any ideas ???? drained and refilled cooling system on a 2002 caddy esc. 6.0 H0 and now heat is not working. Seems like it is air bound but can not find any bleeder screws or ways to bleed system. Has anybody had this proplem before.

Yeah. Sounds like an air bubble in the heater core.

They usually work they're way out after about 2-3 hrs of driving.

Thanks for the reply right now i have the front jacked up in the shop with cap off hoping it will bleed. I hope this works . The customer won't like taking the vehicle with heat not working in Maine.

Oh shit its a customers vehicle...LOL.

It may bleed out with the cap off...but usually you need it on to build system pressure. Try leaving the cap on for a couple min and remove it...build pressure and relieve it, see if that gets things moving.

My usual procedure is to fill the overflow tank up a little past max, go for a short drive with heat on high until it gets up to normal operating temp, then park it & let it completely cool while getting other projects done. Then, when cool, squeeze the upper and/or lower hose several times until you stop seeing bubbles in the tank. Go for another short drive ( get up to temp ) with heat off , then just before you park it, crank the heat for a minute & shut it off. Usually a couple heat/cool cycles, along with squeezing the hose will purge a majority of the air out.

if a tech had to do that JS ,we'd be broke, lol,

thay are a self bleeding system,if the htr hoses are hot and no heat out of vents ,there is a HVAC module concern ,what was the customer complaint?

Aiden,I can tell you if a caddy owner had to drive 2-3 hrs to get heat ,he would flip his lid ,and JSdirt technique is even worse ,holy crap guys, think man ,alittle bit of misinfo yes?

I know its not normal to drive around a couple hours to get heat, Its also not normal for this system to get air locked...but it happened.

Hey guys thanks for all the responses all are very useful. This morning I started it and cycled from idle to 3000 rpm from cold up to normal operating temp then shut off. Checked level installed cap and and cycled again in 30 second intervals from idle to 3000 rpms. Then had some heat but still not great. Then I test drove about 20 minutes and had good heat. I have been doing auto repair for 25 years and never had so much trouble getting air out. But as all you guys know everyday is a learning experience. Thanks again Mike.

No doubt man...Shit happens.

I have had one lock on me before and it took about 3 hrs to get the bubble out...It wasn't bad though...it was my bud's vehicle. They would lock all the time back in the day, but they had bleed screws. Now its a closed system...not much you can do if by chance it does lock...but thankfully it doesn't happen often...Karma just didn't like you yesterday. This is also the reason I like using our new flush and fill machine at the shop

I've still had air pockets with the exchanger, I got to the point where even after a flush I still use the GM version of the airlift to purge the air.

Shitty man....havent had one since we bought that baby. Maybe its just luck.

I'll look into the shop budget when I get home and see if we have the cash to pick up an Airlift...or something similar.

Actually...I just looked at the price....Pretty sure I can afford 70-125 bucks :P:P:D:D

Thanks for the tip man...it may come in handy somewhere in the near future
