2008 Gmc Sierra Afm

So I have an 08 gmc sierra z71 4wd with the 5.3 and the afm. I am looking for an exhaust however I am worried when the AFM kicks in that i will loose power and have resulting engine problems. What do yal recommend and whats the next course of action? Thanks for all the help beforehand ..

I have an 08 Silverado with the 5.3. Just installed the GM Performance Exhaust. I am totally happy with it. No issues when the AFM kicks in,no drone,no power loss and awesome sound.

I had a muffler shop install a cat-back 18" magnaflow ( Single in, dual out ). Prior to the install, I could not tell when afm switched from 8 to 4 cylinder. With the magnaflow, I can tell because the exhaust is louder and therefore makes it noticable to my ear. At first I was a little annoyed but after a week, I was used to it. BTW, I am picky about things like that.

I have a Corsa Sport behind my 5.3 w/AFM and love it. I do hear a slight "burp" when AFM kicks in/out but I got used to it within a week. I can always turn AFM off if needed. No drone or power loss...and the sound is nice also.

+2 I got the exact same setup. Can hear the difference, but got used to it. And you can always step on the pedal a little to hear the 8 cyls. growl.

Flowmaster 70 muffler only. Just a bit louder and deeper, no highway drone. Turned the AFM off. You can hear the difference between 8 and 4 cylinder with any aftermarket exhaust(IMO).

same here... FM 70 Big Block II. Had a 50, but the interior resonance was over the top, and the AFM was more noticable with the 50, but no as obnoxious as the interior drone.

 

Swapped to a 70, and it is the perfect blend of mellow rumble, performance and interior noise comfort FOR ME....

btw do yall think 33x12.50 will clear with the 2" rough country leveling kit ?

btw do yall think 33x12.50 will clear with the 2" rough country leveling kit ?

 

i am wondering this myself.. if you can fit 33's with no rubbing with just a leveling kit.. i think you're gonna need at least an inch and a half of body lift to keep from rubbing

 

also, i got a magnaflow and i am happy with it. check out the link in my sig.. i also cut off that dual stainless steel tip and i am just going to dump it.. but if you want the tip i'll sell it to ya cheap.. PM me if you're interested (dual 3" out)
