Finished product installed and working... I now have 8GB's of music in my glove box.

DSC03565.jpg

~Will you please take a clearer pic of the display? Can't see details b/c of glare.

~Is it showing Song Title/Artist/Album? ...or is that just the current & next 2 songs?

~Is it easy to navigate between usb flash drive Folders?

Thanks!

Yeah, sorry about that... It shows Song Title, Artist and Album name from top to bottom. If you hit the i button then it shows song title time elapsed and total song time. I'll try to take a better shot and post it when I can. I use the up & down arrows on my steering wheel to navigate each folder, album or song title. You just press the advance button on the steering wheel to drill in each folder until you reach a song and then when you press the advance button again it starts playing. If you hold the down arrow for 2 seconds or longer it goes from MP3 song back to Album, etc...

Sweet... thanks for the info. Gonna hit my dealer up tomorrow. In the past they've been willing to match GMpartsdirect's pricing.

Thanks for your posts Zakman. It sounds like it's just plug and play and from V8GMT Guy, it sounds like you won't lose your XM either. Does the dash panel just pop off? I'm assuming that you have to remove it in order to remove the radio.

Your all welcome...It was very easy and well worth it. I just took a 6 hour trip (1 way) this past weekend with my wife and another couple and we LOVED it, no commercials and we had almost 1500 songs on one drive.

Here is a link to a post that should answer most of your questions...

Anyone try this mod lately...?

Looked up part # 20918430 at GMPartsDirect and it has warning: "NFSR: THIS PART IS A RESTRICTED PART FROM GM AND IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR SALE ON OUR SITE."

yeah yeah i know... was just hoping someone had found the radio outside of dealership. would be nice to save a few bucks.

I've only seen the navigation units on ebay so far.... I'd just say keep a close eye on there to see if one pops up.

Does anyone have a picture of the USB port not attached to the center console? P/N: 25966008.

Here's a picture of the inside of the center console, but I'd like to see the what the other end of the console USB port looks like.

Here's a picture of the inside of the center console, but I'd like to see the what the other end of the console USB port looks like.

It's a mini USB port just like on the back of the head unit.

One thing to note: when I tried ordering the port from the dealer, I was told two things:

1) GM requires you to buy the entire body of the console in order to get the port through the parts department

2) The factory cable is integrated into the wiring harness for all of the center console (meaning all the aux power ports, rear seat audio controls, etc.).

I ended up buying the center console port out of a 2010 Camaro since GM does allow you to purchase it separately without buying an entire console to get it. Instead of $300 in parts, it's $30 in parts. Just use a generic male mini-USB to male mini-USB cable to connect it all together and you're golden.

However, I just punched the P/N you provided up on gmpartsgiant.com and gmpartsdirect.com and it shows it priced as if it can be ordered. I may try doing this because the Camaro's port is white in color and also has an aux phono jack in it which I really don't want in my console. I'd rather have it look like it does on a 2010 truck.

gmpartsdirect also reports that the P/N has been revised for that GMT900 receptacle to 20944422

Thank you very much for the reply.

I got that part number from a Cadillac dealership months ago. I've got assume the same receptacle is used throughout the SUV cousins. My picture is from a 2010 Escalade. That's good to hear that it's a simple female mini USB port.

Could you provide me with that part number for the Camaro port? That may interest me more as I was looking for an all-in-one (USB and 3.5mm/1/8th"/AUX/Line In) solution.

EDIT: This is exactly what I'm looking for (found it on camaro5). I could really use a part number if and when you get a chance. It looks like they make it in black too.

Did a little "research" and found what I need. I have a quick question for you V8GMT Guy: What does the back of this combo (USB and AUX) port look like? It's really hard to tell based on the following pictures. I know you mentioned the female mini USB but what about the 3.5mm part?

The following picture is taken from the rear of the console from a 2010 Camaro without USB. The top port is the power outlet and the bottom is of the 3.5mm/1/8th" AUX jack. Source.

The following picture tells a different story. To me, it looks like receptacle connectors are at the top right. Two for the AUX and USB, and one for the 12v power/cigarette lighter. Then it wraps down to the 20 pin connector and the other male mini USB which both plug into the PDIM. And then, finally, it all goes to the head unit. Source.

What bugs me is that I cannot see the AUX connector!

Anyway, here are the part numbers:

Aux jack, W/o USB: 25832461

Aux jack, W/USB: 20870101

EDIT: Corrected V8GMT Guy's name.

Thanks for the photos. That's very peculiar that it's white like that.

For the 3.5mm/1/8th" part, I guess I'd need to get the connector and wire it from there. If you have access to some datasheets that'd be awesome. If not, I guess I'll hit the dealer next week.

I've been looking at that -- thus far it doesn't look like there is a way to plug in an external phono input from the back of our head units, but I'm still checking on that. I just have this unit hooked up in my glovebox so far; haven't torn the console apart to route a USB cable there yet.

And yeah, it's very strange that it's white when the ones in the pics you've found are all black. I don't know what's up with that, but I don't like it being white either.
