Left Directional Blinks Twice As Fast As Right Directional?

Recommended Posts

Did a search and could not find anything on this:

My left directional blinks twice as fast (just started) as right directional (normal rate on right)

I've checked bulbs, and fuses and can't find anything that is bad and not sure what to check next?

Anyone else ever have this issue, and what was the fix?

TIA

Hi

I'm new around here, but maybe can be the signal light relay?

Or you can replace the bulb, I've had a similar problem with my sister's truck:

The signal light was flashing faster and it was the bulb, but it wasn't burned, it had some kind or carbon or some sticky compund over the terminal of the bulb, so it look good and sometimes worked the way it should be and other times not

I just changed it

Most cases, a fast signal turns out to be a bad bulb. Less resistance, the light blinks faster :)

Thanks for the ideas, I will change both left front and rear directional bulbs and see if that solves the issue.

If it ends up to be a signal relay - I'm guessing I could find the location of it in the manual?

Thanks for everyone's help

It may be the flasher unit itself. Replace if everything else fails.

Where would I find the flasher unit and what would the approximate replacement cost be?

On the left front you have a turn signal bulb out. May be a 194 or a 3157/4157.... Usually front cause fast blink and rear cause no blink, blub on solid.

It is not the flasher or it would do it on both left and right.....

Ended up to be the left rear directional bulb (although the bulb looked fine) all seems to be fine now.

:) Most people don't realize that the turn signal lamps may have 2 bulbs that actually flash in the front and 2 in the rear. Very common on the 2003-2006 Silverados. The left front corner flashes (small bulb) and then the front left flashes. Same thing with the taillight. Big bulb flashes then the small bulb on the side of the tail light.
