Have A Question About The Gm Loyalty Rebate

I have a question. I am looking at buying an Equinox for my wife and was told by one dealer that my 08 GMC Sierra does not qualify me for the 1k loyalty rebate. I know some of you work at dealers. Is this bs? a few other dealers said it does.

Yes, it is BS because the rules say that any GM vehicle '99 or newer qualifies. My 2006 truck does, so yours does too.

Yes it does, time to find a new dealer that wants to sell a car!

a lot of us have had dealer trouble, this is becoming GM's biggest downfall. the dealership service is horrid, they should be shinning our shoes and handing out drinks when we walk in the door for either sales or service, instead its like they want us to give our money to someone else.

I would definetely try and find a better dealer. I got it on my 2010 Sierra and the next newest Gm vehicle I own is my 96 9C1 Caprice........

What's even crazier is that I've often seen dealerships trying to sell a 2008 Denali with 30k miles for 40 grand. SLT's for 35-36 with the same mileage. Well....that's the listed price.

I got a really good price for my '10, but I'm not financing either. When my '02 got paid off in '05, I just started saving the monthly payments so I could pay cash for a new one. I was able to get that rebate plus some. Of course, it also helps to have used the same dealership for years and one that actually wants to sell vehicles.

It's already been said, but definitely find another dealership.

I just bought a 2009 Sierra in Kamloops BC this past December and they honoured all the rebates. $8000 just for buying it, $1000 Holiday gift rebate, $1000 GM loyalty rebate, and a $500 military rebate. I only had to prove that I owned and had insured a GM product for the past 6 months. I have a 67 Chevelle that qualified. They were happy with that, in fact they wanted me to trade it in on the truck!! Not likely.

well just an update. i called GM headquarters and the dealer is correct. only Saturn,Chevy or Oldsmobile qualifies for the loyalty rebate for the 2010 Equinox. This upsets me. I try to stay brand loyal but there is always a catch and even the lady I spoke with at coperate had me suspicious. At first she said there was only a $500 rebate on the Equinox. We then both went to the website and she put me on hold again. Came back and said yes there is a rebate but only if I own the above brands. So now it looks like we are getting a Subaru Forester. I know its only 1k but that put the SUV in our price range with the options the Forester offered. Thanks for listening.

call them back and tell them, maybe if they are aware of how many sales they lose they might treat future buyers better

GM has been known to violate their own rules. For example, they refused to honor my GM card rebate when I tried to buy a new 2008 Impala about a year ago, despite the fact that the vehicle was listed as one of the eligible vehicles in the GM card rebate brochure.

I sent them a nice email explaining how they lost a sale. Although they probably dont care.

This is not good, its like GM has been tuned into another government agency. Maybe they forgot who buys their products.

Not to be blasphemous in a GM forum, but in that price range the Subaru Forester is a far better vehicle than the Equinox. You get a proper AWD system in a vehicle that keeps its resale value and is proven to last to 200K miles.

    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
    • Correct.  2019-2021 model years are serviced by a different p/n.  19420611.  Recall 2021s use 19420611.   The recall engines 2022-2024 model years are serviced with 12740076.     The difference between 19420611 and 12740076 is GM changed injector size for 2022.  The injectors are smaller on 12740076 with smaller injector bores in the cylinder heads to match the smaller injectors.  So you can't install a 19420611 in a 2022-2024, and you can't install a 12740076 in a 2019-2021.     Both engines are the replacement engine p/ns that are in the L87 recall.  So both of these are the updated engines.     Here's a version of the L87 recall with the p/ns for all the parts needed.    RCRIT-25V274-7075.pdf   Note it shows 19420611 and 12740076 with an asterisk to a footnote "Use the VIN and the GM Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) to determine which part to order if two or more part numbers are listed for the same part, as it may vary by vehicle options."
