Should I Get A Tune?

I have been debating this for a while now. I have read all the reviews and I would without a doubt go with a blackbear tune. I'm organizing a meet up here in MA in April. The reason I ask is because I really don't drive all that fast and probably only floored it once or twice in the trucks life. I get on it from time to time but not sure a tune would benifit me. What do you guys think?

I say go for it, no need to debate it any longer. From what I have heard it gives the truck a whole new feel, less restricted and more responsive. Even if you don't go WOT doesn't mean you won't benefit from a tune. If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't give it a second thought!

You don't need to drive fast or floor it often to appreciate a tune. I just had mine done in Memphis a few weeks ago and love it. You have instant throttle response instead of that lag. I know I noticed the power difference when pulling my 650cc four wheeler, can't hardly tell it's back there now. I went with the 93 tune for the power and also my mpg has increased. Before it felt like you were dragging an anchor behind you, not anymore. Like everyone else says, just do it; you won't be sorry.

Thanks for the replies. My answer is yes then. I just don't beat on it because I owe some on the truck as well. I would like to make it more drivable though as I do tow and haul a lot with it.

I think you would enjoy it for several reasons. The powers there when you want it, no GM nannies controlling how much power you should have. Second would be mileage. You could have it tuned for mileage over power. Just having the TQ management removed will make it feel like an entirely different truck. And last would be better shifts. He can tune for it to shift better, making the truck more enjoyable to drive day to day.

I say yes..

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I came from a very fast Camaro SS to this truck and don't have the speed urge anymore. Don't really need a tune as this truck will never be fast, it hauls what I need and tows my boat fine as is. I'm just tired of the 4-5 sec delay when you mash the gas to pass. The GM TM is horrible aswell as the TCM shift setup. Very soft and you can feel the slip to make it soft, especially when towing out of T/H mode. I'm not looking for or expecting any mpg gain judging from my past tunes. Still up in the air on keeping AFM on and what octane tune do I want to go with.

ryan,i feel exactly the way you do,i feel like i wrote what you did its stupid to cut back, delay and mess with power.when i hit the gas i want to go.

Thanks guys. I guess I have my answer. :rollin: Does he have you floor it when tuning and how fast does he have you get going. I'm just curious. Thanks

I think you do some spirited runs up to around 80 or so.

Sometimes you gotta feed a little speed to your ride...

is there any way to adjust the shift points on the 6 speed without actually having him do it in person? I was suppose to get it done in January but something came up at the last minute with work and wasnt able to go.
