Help Me Decide Which Bl!

Recommended Posts

Hey!

I'm going to be buying a body lift for my truck before the end of this month and want the boards help on which 3" BL to buy. I'M buying either the Zone or the Performance Accessories kit. Which is better? BDS no longer make a kit as it is now Zone offroad who has their kit. Is there any real pros and cons to either kit?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have any experience with the Zone kit, but I have installed a couple of the PA's (not the one on my truck). I have zero complaints about the P.A. kit and would recommend it to anyone.

I was originally going with BDS then found out the same as you. They sold their design to Zone. So that's who I went with and I have no complaints. Works like it should and gave me the lift I wanted.

With that being said, I would go with the better deal between Zone and P.A.

For the GMT900 trucks I prefer the Zone kit over the PA kit because I think the front and rear bumper bracket designs from Zone (BDS) are better designed and easier to install than the PA kit. With that said... there's nothing "wrong" with the PA kit... I just like the Zone bumper bracket design "better".

One other thing to note is that if you get the Zone kit, IGNORE the instructions about drilling a hole in the rear bumper for the spare tire. Instead, follow the PA kit instructions for setting the spare tire mechanism alignment.

Here's the ZONE kit.

Front bumper brackets are in the upper corners, rear bumper brackets are in the lower corners

Here's the PA kit.

Front bumper brackets are the metal plates and there are spacers that go inbetween them. Rear bumper brackets are at the top.

I recommend reading through the instructions of both kits to get an idea of the difference in the bumper install... its really the only difference between the two kits that matters.

My conclusion was that unless I was getting a killer deal on a PA kit, the Zone was preferred.
