Online Tire Stores

I'm pricing tires and have a concern about buying them from an online store. My concern is what if the tire is defective and needs to be replaced. In the past the shop I bought the tires from would handle any issues that would occur. Discounttiredirect.com has something called "Certificates for Refunds or Replacement." It's $93 for 4 tires. Sounds like a rip-off.

cant vouch for them myself, but from what i've heard that site is legit.

might want to call them on it.

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/b...Certificate.jsp

from what i read here, sounds legit... although i would rather have a local shop for the peace of mind to talk to someone face-to-face.. i would price each of them on a set and see how they compare.. then factor in having to pay for shipping costs, etc for discount tire direct and make a decision.

I'm looking at these:

Cooper Zeon LTZ 275/60R-20 119S XL B

$744 with free shipping. I believe this is a really good price but I'm concerned they may be 2nds. I guess I do need to call them and confirm.

I just bought tires for my YukonXL. I shopped the mail order places, but I wound up buying at my local Autotire. The mail order price was a little cheaper, but then I would have had to add $20/tire for shipping and still pay someone to mount them. It turned out to be a better deal for me to buy local. That was even before I considered future free flat repairs and free rotation/balancing. If you're getting free shipping, that's a good deal, but consider the mounting/balancing costs and future rotations, etc.

three months ago bought a set of Toyos for my Denali from http://www.tiresdirect.net/ . Great prices and shipping was very reasonable. I will order my next set of tires from them definately.

I have ordered from tirerack.com, but only because it was a very good deal. 6 years ago I was able to pick up tires for my Subaru wagon for 1/2 of what I could get local. I bought Continental's that came with a manufacturers road hazard warranty, but never had to use it.

However, when I bought tires for my Suburban last month, the online stores were not a deal after you factored in road hazard, shipping and install.

Ray... e-mail [email protected] ... or go to www.eastcoasttires.com and call the # and ask for Ryan. I'd put money on it that he can get you those Coopers for less than $744 shipped, and he's an awesome guy too. He's always taken care of anyone i've sent his way. Just tell him that Matt from NJ sent ya :noway:

Edit: and FYI, a few years ago I got a defective PJ Dirt Grip tire... i emailed him a few tread depth measurements and he took care of the rest and had a new tire sent out to me. It had a separating tread so when it was on the front my truck would pull.

I just got my kumho's in from discounttiredirect through Bing.com. They offer cash back when you buy from their affiliated stores. The tires were $947 shipped to my door ( Kumho MT71 315/70/17). Bing reimbursed me $47.50. I thought it was a great deal. Shipping was fast and tires where GREAT. If you have a hotmail account your already setup to do it all you need to do is activate. If not go to live.com and set it up. I thought it was a hoax but it actually worked. The only downside is your refund takes 60 days.

I have bought tires from Tire Rack since 98 or 00... With No Problems.. My current BGF's on my truck came from them. The set before that of BFG's. 4 set of General's, 6 sets of Firestone's, 2 sets of Continental's, 1 set bridgestone's, 1 set of goodyears, 2 sets of coopers. You won't hear a complaint out of me from them.... Where I am if you order before dinner you get them the next day on fedex or ups....

I have only bought several sets of tires from them over the last few years... Date codes on the tires are always with in the same year I bought them in...

Nearly every tire, I have had problems with came from LOCAL TIRE STORES.....

I agree 100%....TireRack is on the ball and knows their stuff. A couple days ago I ordered a new set of Goodyear Duratracs. Ordered them at about 1pm, and I had them sitting at my house by 10am the next day...and I did not pay for "overnight" shipping. Tires were much cheaper than buying them local.

I have bought the last 4 or 5 set of tires online....I have purchased from Tirerack.com and mostly from Treadepot.com

I have never had a problem and generally get free shipping...prices are genreally higher to cover costs...

Walmart here does a super job of mounting and balancing for about $45.....the last set of tires I bought online for my wife's suv were over $125 cheaper than the local Autotire (same tire) even when adding in shipping, mounting and balancing.

Also, I never buy the extended or road hazard warranties.....I have had one nail in a sidewall and had to eat a new tire.....but I probably saved enough by not buying the extra warranty to pay for a few sets of tires...ha

In fact, I have never bought any extended warranty on anything....I figure my next truck will be free!! ha

We buy tons of tires from our local/small town dealer for the family businesses. Anytime we need personal tires, we get them at cost which is slightly lower than the online stores.

When I worked for Merchant's I could get great discounts. I recall getting some Uniroyal Nailguards for about $65 apiece for my Cougar ten years ago. In fact, I applied at NTB while stationed in DC and would have taken the job but they wanted me to work every weekend. I've flirted with the idea of applying at Tire Kingdom down this way. I miss having access to a lift, alignment machine and other goodies. My brother is supposed to get the price for the Terra Grapplers I want from his distributor. He has a mounting machine at work, so I am hoping for a good deal on tires and only having to pay someone else to balance them. We'll see...

As for the online stores, I've never tried them. There are some things I buy online, but for large items I am a bit more old fashioned and prefer to deal face-to-face.

I bought four Michelin LTX-M/S2 tires in 265/70/17 Load Range-E for our Tahoe two weeks ago, I priced the tires all over the Internet and eventually ended up buying from my local Costco. The price was within twenty bucks or so, plus Costco mounted, balanced (great job), filled with nitrogen and will rotate, fix and replace under warrenty.

After having the tires replaced, I had my local Chevy dealership align the rig ... what a difference.

I love these tires.

    • He does, actually. In another unrelated video he mentions the president called him in the middle of the night to relay some information on a cause (religious based) that he's invested in. Glenn expressed concern that another leftist administration could wield too much power with some procedure the Pentagon was using, classifying certain religions a certain way. Being that he is LDS (Latter Day Saints), he gets hate all the time from ALL over the political spectrum, so he's invested in this. Trump called him back at 5AM to tell him he had made some changes to that classification.   So, yes, they are and have been in contact regularly since the start of the administration. Glenn, of course, always asks his permission before discussing anything on the air.   I already spent an hour or more just searching for these videos. I may have my numbers wrong - I'm not a numbers guy. It may have been a MILLION barrels, not 1.5. The point is, our President, by his actions, gives a crap about America, and US - this is completely OPPOSITE the actions of the prior administration who projected hatred for anyone who wasn't following the left's edicts in lock-step.   Remember, they called January 6th an "Insurrection", when there were ZERO weapons among the crowd, undercover FBI agents agitating the crowd, along with paid leftists acting as aggressors, egging the crowd on in an attempt to whip everyone into a frenzy. It's all been proven.  Pelosi refused Trumps request for more National Guard troops. This smells 100% like an inside job for those with critical thinking skills. Only a handful of guys in the crowd got wrapped up in that, thankfully, but EVERYONE was searched out based on cell phone data, and charges were brought against many. And 6 or so people were locked up and left in solitary confinement for YEARS with ZERO due process!! If you give the slightest crap about our Nation, REGARDLESS of your political leanings, this should frighten you to your core. This is what men suffered, bled, fought, and died against 250 years ago!   This has gone FAR BEYOND left vs. right. This is a  threat to America, and our way of life. This is PRECISELY why Trump, a BILLIONAIRE who could have chosen to take Melania and sit on some tropical island that he could afford to buy himself and RELAX, instead chose to run for office, get hate from literally every corner of the media, get ATTEMPTS on his LIFE constantly, and begin to repair some of the severe damage that's been done to this Great Nation.   I don't know why I bother wasting my precious time here. Everyone has their minds made up. They won't realize we all were correct until it's too late ... after they elect another tyrant that hates America to office (Obama), or another puppet whose administration is secretly running the show behind the scenes (Biden).
