Blackbear Tune

I bought my New Truck back in November of 09....since taking delievery of the truck, I noticed right away how great the Blackbear Tunes really are for these trucks.....turns out I had traded my Blackbear Tuned 07 for a Stock 09, and pretty much regreted my decision from the 100 miles I put on the new truck....well anyway I got ahold of Justin and ordered a Tune for my 09 and once the weather broke, I took the time to put it in, and had the Vette Servo Installed. I can honestly say, I really like the 09 Truck now! So anyway to Justin and Jenna at Blackbear Peformance, I can't Thank You enough, you have made my 09 Sierra a fun to drive truck. For everyone else sitting on the fence about what kind of Tune to get, I hope I answered your question!

I get my Black Bear Tune this coming Friday at 4:30. It's like Christmas time again :P

I installed the spare modules yesterday and did the security re-learn. The first 5 or 6 miles driving after that, the truck felt really sluggish, but cleared up eventually. It seems OK now, except for the crank re-learn that is needed.

I installed a Magnaflow Cat-Back system (single side exit) and a Volant CAI during the last 2 weeks, so I think I am about done with things for now.

I am still thinking I would like to have 3.73 gears instead of the 3.42 though, but it isn't a big enough jump to make the switch, and I do too much highway driving for a 4.10 gear IMO.

Hey fellas, sorry to interject here, but I was looking for instructions on how to swap my tuned ECM/TCM with the factory ones I kept. I know how to physically swap them, but I forgot about some other stuff. I.e. do I need to disconnect my battery? Do I need to keep the key in the on position? Any other quirky stuff I should worry about or can i just shut the truck off and swap 'em?

Oh, and by the way, love my tune. Had it since Dec '08 and would do it over again.

I am considering a tune but I am nervous about my warranty being voided since the truck is so new and the warranty goes to 100k. How big a deal is it to install a stock ECM for warranty work? Will the dealership be able to detect the tune in other ways?

Responded to your PM. But for everyone else, swapping back to stock is just as easy as swapping your tuned modules in. Same procedure, just make sure your key is not in the ignition.

Some folks will unplug the battery for added safety.

The few times I've swapped my computers I disconnected the negative battery cable just in case.

I too am getting tuned Saturday, can't wait. Installed Corvette servo Sunday, very noticable difference. I have not installed ECM/TCM yet maybe Thurday or Friday. This forum has been one of the best finds on the internet for me. The integrity of this forum seems to be second to none.

Thanks gm-trucks.com!

It offers a more robust 1-2 shift servo, folks should see crisper snappier shifts due to the increased surface area of the servo.

I also traded an 07 tuned truck for my 09. But I knew I d tune that truck too. Did you think the 09 wouldn t need the tune too? :P

Nah....I knew the 09 would need tuned too....I think its just that the 09 was lacking something from the start, and winter has been long this year so I haven't really got to enjoy my new truck yet....I swear I'll never buy another new truck in the winter again....I like to keep em clean and mod them out....there's no doing that in the winter around here!
