Ext. Cab Talk

For those of you with Ext. Cabs, do you guys get bothered by people that cant close the door right or close the wrong door causing the door not to close. And then they look at you like this door is stupid or what did I do wrong. This mostly is my girlfriend and her friends that jump in, and which to add my girl is always like why did u get doors like this. I love ext. cabs because I just like the way they look and function. The truck deff looks a hell of alot sportier, I always fit people no prob, and I couldnt due with out a 6' bed. What is everyones take on this.

I have had people close the front door before the back door many times. if not for my watching and screaming they would have hit the two doors together. We looked at a crew cab but it doesnt seem like you are getting the space in the back seat that is being lost in the bed.

The biggest issue I have with the ext cab doors is that they only open 90 degrees to the body, the new trucks open like 170. That should make it a lot easier to get people in and out in tight parking lots.

I hated having to "scissor" the doors... When you were parked in a tight space open the front door and stay seated. Then the person in the back opens their door steps out to the spot where I have my door open. Then they shut the back door and move then I can get out finally. I HATED that for some reason. But yeah when I had my ext. cab people ALWAYS shut the front doors first...

Remember the days before Ext Cabs had rear doors, the seat backs just tilted forward and the passenger seat slid forward to allow access, do the new trucks still have that feature?

I actually own a 09 Ext cab but have never checked to see if the passenger seat tilts and slides like the older trucks and I am 3000 miles away from it right now, so I can't run outside and check.

yeah I dont run into that prob, my doors open a full 170. It makes it real easy for people to swing the door open all the way and just jump out. I agree with you that you dont get much more space with a Crew Cab. My buddy wishes he never got the crew and bought the ext. cab. He wants the reg bed size and really never even has people in the back of the truck. GM needs to have the option to have crew + reg bed on a 1500. Ford has it.

I never park my truck in a tight spot. To anal about people opening there doors on my truck which happens more times then u think. people just dont give a shit. Plus I need room to park my truck, its not like im driving a civic.

Passenger seat does not tilt. No need for it to tilt when you can just open both doors.

Love my ext. cab for the bed length. It has come in very handy multiple times, especially camping when we pack it to the hilt. There have been very few times in the past year and half of ownership that I would have liked to have a Crew Cab. It is usually when I have to take several friends with me and the seating is a bit tight in the back.

i wish i could have a CCLB. that would be the most practical for me. im not a fan of the short bed and i always am hauling about 4 people so the ext cab is a little small.. il ike the way a ECSB looks though. and i wish the doors opened all the way!

I like the Extended Cab because of the bigger bed. I haul ATV's in the summer, and I like the bed because its just big enough to fit the Gf's in it. I also got the Extended because I hardly ever take anyone when I go somewhere so I just don't need the bigger cab.

i cant fit my suzuki kinquad in my bed with the tailgate closed... thats annoying.. and not an inch of room for gear and whatnot.

My Suzuki Vinson just barely fits in the bed with the tailgate up. I have to back it in otherwise I risk sending the bumper thru the rear window. I can then fit a cooler and gear under the quad.

I've had a CrewCab and loved the space in the interior, and dealt with the lack of space in the truck bed. When debating which one I was going to purchase I decided to go with an extended cab, would rather have more bed space (for my saws, compressor, satands, and other bulky tools I use on a regular basis) than a huge interior that most of the time went un-used. Never have looked back and I love my extended cab, and I make sure to keep an eye on my passengers to avoid issues when closing the doors. And if they talk smack (sometimes about the leg room and also about how the doors open) I instantly tell them they are more than welcome to follow me in their own vehicle or walk! LOL..............shuts em up every time!

The other good thing about my extcab is that I can still put it in my garage if I wanted to, but if I had a crewcab with the 6.5bed (2500HD truck) it would be too long and not fit. I know in todays "new" homes my truck may or may not fit in a standard 2 car garage, so I am lucky, but that is also something to think about when you get a crewcab truck.

ha well i slide the ramps under the atv when its in the bed so theres no room for anyhting else... luckily the front of the kinqquad wont hit the window when its in so i can ratchet it tightly to the truck
