Shock Mount Extension Non-hd 1500

I just installed new torsion keys and wanted to see if anyone knows where/if you can buy 2 in extension mounts to re-use the stock shocks. Most of the 2500 kits all come with them but the 1500 kits don't. Would the ones for the 2500 also work on a 1500? The ride is not horrible but it is stiffer than stock......just trying to avoid buying new longer shocks.

I know this has been several months but I do believe Fat Bob's Garage has just the extensions. When I did my truck I bought the whole kit at once. Plus the kit was cheaper from Bob than from the company who made the kit. Check it out & let us know.

There is no real safe way to extend the lower shock mounting points, that I have seen.

There is shock extenders available for the upper mount, but they're pretty weak and cheesy.

I recommend that all of my customers just buy the 0-2" lift shocks instead. No way of breaking

a weak added mount then.

Maybe I haven't been looking in the right places, but I haven't seen any shocks for a 2" lift. Every set that I come across starts out at 4". What brands have the 2" extra shocks?

Bilstein 5100s are for 0-2".

Most aftermarket shocks have a longer extended length than the OEM shocks though... so you'll bottom out the LCA on the droop stops before the shocks are fully extended. Even the OEM Z71 shocks have enough travel to not be the limiting factor on most of the trucks that ive seen.

The kit I bought was made by truxxx.com, kit #404015. If you by chance have a moment, could you take a look & let me know if these shock extenders sound safe. I am honestly curious. I know matt has already addressed another concern about the extenders due to possibly bottoming out the stock size shocks. So if they also unsafe I'll be double sure to get them out of my truck right away. Thanks

Too hard to tell, I can't get the picture big enough.....

Thanks for looking. I'm away from my truck for awhile, but once I get back to it I will attempt to get some good pics to get some ideas if there good. They seemed like they were pretty durable metal when I put them, but I'm no expert. I just fix/replace what's broke, don't get into engineering or fabrication.

    • From what I gather, you have a 2.7 Diesel  You cannot use Chevron gas in it.  Howes has a diesel add-in and it states it cleans injectors.  Me personally, wouldn't bother with it.  If it's not broke, don't fix it.     Just my two cents worth.
    • Looking up on the web you can the information that would seem obvious. You asked engine components to do more. You get more wear. The answer is they can last just as long but required more maintenance. Apparently having to change lifters, cam and associated components are maintenance or repairs. In some research the normal life span of valve train components are 80-100 miles with 3-5K miles oil change. So the next logical conclusion would be cost per mile. I use that analogy with my wife all the time with vehicles. My Odyssey is approaching 170K. The cost per mile will go up at 200K with maintenance. Looking at a low cost car. A K-4 with a 10-10 warranty. Selling my Ridgeline that’s about to hit the same maintenance milestone. My argument becomes not only I get worry free driving. But at no cost increases. Because I take the money from my Ridgeline and maintenance savings and other potential savings. I’m driving for free. So tying it with a bow. It makes you wonder. Is this a grand conspiracy by the auto makers? Raise the potential maintenance high enough. Buyers by extended warranty to 100K miles. Do the minimum maintenance required. Trade in at the warranty end. How long should they last? That question is what keeps people up at night. The answer is much more complicated than it used to be.
    • Could you cite your source on this?  I cannot find any reference to the US secretly taking the oil.  I find references that the US helped oil tankers move through the Strait of Hormuz, but nothing about what you're stating.
    • Same thought, also the everything doesn't have the details real photos do (talking about the noise in the photo)
    • Since the media YOU and your buddies are programmed to watch failed to mention this, I'll fill you in.   Trump admitted today that we've grabbed 150 MILLION barrels of oil from the Iranian tankers locked in the Strait by our Navy. We turned off their transponders, took them out to sea in the dark of night since they have zero radar capabilities anymore, offloaded every drop onto another vessel, and put them back by morning so no one was the wiser. That oil has been en-route THROUGHOUT the entire conflict.   Main reason he admitted this is to let even guys on our own side who joined leftists in complaining about the prices that he hears us all, and has taken steps to make sure this didn't spiral into a BAD situation ... just like the mainstream media has been PRAYING would happen, just so they could gloat. Amazes me how these people are rooting for the destruction of THEIR OWN HOME, just to make a President they don't agree with or like look bad! That's next level TDS!   I know your not capable of giving our President the benefit of the doubt, again due to your deep programming, but THIS is why oil never hit $150 a barrel as predicted by your programmers, AND the reason oil continues falling. Like I said before, Trump's got a plan, and this is proof of it. By the end of his term, we're going to be in GREAT shape for a change!   Since I just spent $3,000 this week on #2 heating oil and gasoline, the war most certainly is ending! 🤣   https://mxmnews.com/article/ba359ac9-2711-4851-92de-187f2400f2dd?breaking-trump-cancels-iran-strikes-deal-now-approved-by-all-parties
