Wasted $$$ On Superchips Flashpaq

After doing much research on what programmer to get I chose the Superchips flashpaq.

I am very unhappy and disatisfied and kind of pissed off.

I have a 2007 6.0 vortec max and when I plugged the programmer into the truck it

says it needs an update. I thought no problem so I go to the website and download

an update but NO my vehicle is not supported-----how can that be???????

It says they are forwarding my information to the engineers and they will email

me when my vehicle is supported.

Someone is taking a Superchips programmer back or I will be contesting it on

my credit card, what a bunch of crap!!!!!

My weekend just went to SH** I was really looking forward to this

I was going to ask if you'd be interested in a Black Bear custom tune,or if you've even looked into it.

The blackbear tune does sound great and certainly gets great reviews on this site.

I wanted a handheld that I could change the tune from factory to performance or towing or

whatever I was doing.

MSDALE----Could this be because I had the truck at the dealer last week and I know they put

the lates software in it because of an issue I had, maybe superchips doesnt have this version yet?

I had that same issue ones with Hypertech. I drove to the dealership unloaded HP3 software and GM did an update, then when I went to leave, the HP3 wouldn't work anymore saying it wasn't supported.

I sent HP the paperwork the dealer gave me with the update, and they updated my HP3 programmer and I believe the performance program was better the second time than the original install.

Hopefully you'll get support soon for your problem.

If you like the Superchips, you may want to give them a chance to rectify the situation. This is a fact of life for after-market tuning w/ a hand-held, since GM can write a new version to your truck before the handheld vendor has had a chance to include it in their database.

Yeah, that blows....

I am becoming a little disenchanted with Diablo's business practices as well. The U7194 I have, will not take the newer updates, because the memory requirements of the newer CROMS exceed that of the "older 7194s" (meaning units less than 2-3 years old).

The newer CROMS have 3 RPM ranges for WOT AFR tuning. The older ones have two RPM ranges.

Diablo is NOT forthcoming on the SN ranges affected. If you are out of warranty, they are wanting you to PAY to upgrade the unit. Personally, I find that horse-hockey.

I have a custom tune pushed by the Predator, and I am very satisfied with the tune, but, I find the business practice dissappointing.

Then, of course, there is the lack of TCM support fiasco. Persoanlly, having the TM removed from the ECM side is more than OK for me. Not sure I would pi$$ around with the TCM side settings much anyway, even if I could. My truck runs great as it is.

Trust me, that manufacturer is NOT an isolated one in terms of some wierdness.

Diablo also has instances where some order a unit and the CAL ID is not supported immediately. Sometimes they get an update out quickly, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the folks post up and get help within days. Others have waited a long time.

BUT, the issue of receiving a (expensive) product, and it not working out of the box, is damaging from a PR perspective at the very least for WHOMEVER.

Overall, the Diablo serves me well, but there are irritatants in the process.

Generally, if you don't get this ironed out quickly, I would return it and go an alterante route. If swapping ECMs doesn't bother you, maybe a blackbear is a solution for you.

As far as handhelds go, and a Diablo is a possibility for you, peruse their forum FIRST, and post up and see if other have your model/powertrain truck and see if they were supported out of the box.

Sorry for your issue.

I don't have any words of advice that have not already been typed. I just wanted to express my sympathy. THAT SUCKS!!

I know how excited I was to get my tune originally and I thought I was going to have to move my time slot back an hour and that by itself upset me, I can't imagine being all excited and it totally not working out. Sorry man!

I just tuned my Dodge with a Superchips Cortex yesterday. I had the thing for 2 days before my truck would take the tune, I kept getting error code messages. SC had excellent customer service and after a few tries with the updates everything works fine and I am happy with the tune.

Blackbear tune is better (I had one on my GMC before I traded it in) but the convience of a handheld is hard to beat. Either give SC a chance, I know they will make it right or give Justin/Jenna from BB Performance a call.

I would give Superchips a chance if you wanna hand held. Just go to the flashpaq forum and get some help, they are pretty good. I never had any issues at all with my 07 Vmax and the flashpaq.
