Fuel Injector Nylon Line...

OK. 1997 Park Avenue with a 3.8 engine.

I smelled gasonline while installing my steps, and when my neighbor came by, I mentioned it, and he decided to open his hood.It turns out there is a nylon hose that goes into the fuel rail, and it was leaking fuel. Anyway, he asked if I could help, and I tried finding a direct replacement, but on a Saturday evening, I was not very successful. Well, the parts guy at the auto parts store told me to buy some fuel injector line, and use some regular clamps, so I did. It work just fine, and the hose is rated to 130 PSI, so it should be fine. What do you guys think? Is this a permanent fix, or should he go ahead and order the correct hose from GM?

That hose will probably outlast the car man.

There is no where near 130PSI on the fuel system and its fuel hose...so your perfectly safe.

Great. I hope that is the case, and it doesn't give him any trouble. In your opinion, will the regular hose clamps be enough to keep the fuel line secured? Ii used the typical clamps that you tighten with a screw driver. That is what left me uneasy.

As long as there was a barb or a nipple like end on the connection area it should be fine. If it was a smooth surface you may have to keep an eye on it, but after a month or two it should bond. If you're still uneasy about it, you could put a little Seal-All cement around the connection and slide the hose over it than clamp it.

It had a nipple/ elevated end , so I think I'll be okay. I just found the direct replacement nylon line, and its $110.00! This $25 fix is much cheaper! Thanks for your input.
