2010 Silverado Ltz Deal! 6.2l Differential?

My lease on the 2007 is coming up so I stopped by the local dealer to see whats up. I ended up signing the deal on a 2010 Silverado CC in Carbon Black Metallic (premium paint) with the 6.2l. Gm and dealer incentives was $14,000.00 off of list and All I asked was "how much if I buy today?" It is tough to deal when you are trying not to smile. To put the price in perspective, the Out the door price is $6,000.00 less than my 2007 and $3,000.00 less than my 2004. those past deals took weeks to close. Holy Smokes are they trying to move trucks! I find deals are always best on the last day of the month.

My question is is the rear differential with the 6.2 different than the 5.3? I know it has disc brakes but is that all?

P.S How can you say no to 403hp. :D I loved the 5.3's but always ran a 4.10 rear gear which helped.

Just wait for gas to hit $ 4/gallon . Then you will find out how.

Sounds great. Oh, Canada and the still inflated prices that make for huge incentives to "adjust" them

Great choice. Many claim the 6.2L gets lower mileage than a 5.3L, and it does at times, but overall has such stronger power and can still loaf along cruising, in reality you're not that far off--some not at all, at times. Fun.

I know it will get less MPG and in Canada our gas is $4 gallon already. If I was really worried about mileage I would have gotten the Hybrid or kept my 5.3. Oh wait the Hybrid won't pull my 25 ft travel trailer. Did I mention 403hp

Oh yeah, my wife spent 100k on a kitchen and master bath reno and it gets 0Mpg. Its funny how that happened when I started talking about a new ZR-1. isn't mid life grand!

So you are getting back at her? Good for you!

Ha ha! That's great.

Just like caddycruiser mentioned, they are probably having to adjust prices more since the dollar is hanging around par now, or at least that's one reason they are giving you a decent discount. Sounds like a great move to me! 6.2L is a beast.

Congrats on the great deal. Every dealer I've talked to thinks they are sitting on a gold mind and don't budge on the prices.

I'm sure you'll just love the truck. You'll find the highway mileage will be similar to your 5.3, but intown, 2-3 less. Overall.. Well worth it.

E-85

Premium paint? What does that mean?

As far as the rear differential what pkg does it have the NHT, Z60, or Z71?

I could be wrong... but I thought all of the GMT900's that come with the 6.2L are coupled with the 9.5" 14 bolt SF rear in the same package; except for the AWD Denali that has the 8.5" 10 bolt.

Gas mileage isn't bad at all on these trucks... as long as you keep the skinny pedal away from the floor!

It has the Z60, i am a sucker for the 20's. i wanted the NHT for the 3.73 but then I couldn't get the 20's. That was where my question came from, is it the same rear end as the NHT without the 3.73? The Carbon Black metallic is extra cost and fairly rare(GOOGLE) . GM wanted $300 and if you see it I think it is worth it. The dealer says GM is putting premium paint on a limited number of most highly optioned vehicles and they are selling like crazy. Check out the paint colors for the new camaro. They delivered 3 camaro RS while I was there yesterday, a wild green, a deep candy red, and a metallic orange. I guess they learned from Chrysler with their retro Challenger colors. My current truck is stealth grey metallic and it is everywhere so I wanted to be different.

Past new GM truck colors

Bahama Blue and Silver (guess the year)

Metallic Red

White

White

Silver Birch metallic

Stealth grey metallic

Now getting darker.....

I dealer ordered parts this morning and at their cost. They are treating me well

Rear wheel liners $68!

molded GM splash guards $17

smoke hood deflector $64

And every parts customer that walked up got a can of Delco window cleaner. I am starting to like the new GM.

congrats...15 bucks for molded flaps?!? jesus christ i had to pay 50 bucks a pair for those...

the best I have seen on the hi-way with my 6.2 was 24.8mpg at b/t 65-70mph.

Looks like your correct, I found my build sheet and it says AXN (RPO CODE) 9.5" heavy duty axle. I have 3.42's with the Z71 pkg.

When can we meet up? I need to observe your driving skills in person.. Cruising the garden state pkwy which has many hills and bends i cruised at 67mph for 40min never hitting the brake, cruise on and i got 18.8 mpg. That was with a half tank and 4 people on board. I then did 82mph on the way back, same factors, and got 15.8-15.9 mpg. Using 93 octane. My truck is untuned (i'm sure it will do better afterwards) and has only 900mi on it. But that's a FAR cry from what you're getting?

Anyhow, OP, congrats on the truck purchase. If it matters any, m '09 5.3 Tahoe and '08 Sierra only got a mpg or so more on the hwy. 6.2 is defiantely worth it...
