Not sure about flow, but the blue one looks cheaply made by comparison to the black one.

 

Why not look into a high flow washable filter? I've had great luck with the K&N drop in replacement filters.

Thanks, it looks like the blue is less efficient, it actually says efficiency 95.x% on the box. Because of warranty I am looking for an OEM part with better flow, you may be surprised that this blue less efficient filter is what is used with ALL new Cadillac EXT, Escalade?!! I assume these bigger engines (6.2l) are high performance?

I am curious!

 

I leaning toward the amsoil EAA air filter.

Isn't the blue one the high capacity one? Thought the glue lines down the pleats was the give away for that.

Can't go wrong with the AMSOIL EaA air filter.

 

Actually, from Terry Dyson who does all my oil analysis said that getting a Fram air filter and changing it out often shows good results as well. He see's data from his customers and what they run and the Fram shows that it keep the engine clean.

True that...its only when you soak it with oil it messes up your MAF.

K&N is 100% Warranty Friendly too.

Also, you don't have to worry about it for 50K miles, unless you live in dusty environments.

 

 

If the K&N is a little out of your price range, check out Specter filters.

i run ac delco high cap air filters and i've never seen the blue type...only the ones with the black rubber on the edges...do what makes you feel good, i feel most comfortable with ac delco paper filters and i don't care about pukeing 40 bucks every year for one

One filter is high capacity and used in the Z71 off road option.

 

A3086C is the standard duty air filter

A1518C is the heavy duty air filter option "K47 High Capacity Air Cleaner"

 

You can use the A1518C in place of the A3086C as they are identical in lengthxwidth, it has more pleats and they are a little longer, so it can hold more dirt and that's the only difference.

 

 

The filter box is the same so either filter will fit.
