What Is The Stupidest Thing You Have Ever Done?

how many have you done something to or with your truck that was pure stupid...whether its running water instead of oil or hauling a boulder of lead in the back...

 

mine has to be taking a pallet of dirt(roughly 4k lbs) in the bed without spreading the weight out, it was not my brightest moment but i was in a pinch, the truck rode like a boat the whole way back and i'm sure the overload springs were saying "**** this guy"

During the floods last year, I noticed a Eclipse that was swamped and the driver was up to his waist in the water. I drove straight towards him without looking things over. Next thing I new my front end was sunk to the front of the hood and the back left tire was off the ground. There was a set of old rail tracks and ditches on both side that were hidden by the water. I ended up having to get out in the water and run my recovery strap and come-along to the loading dock that was about 25 ft behind me to bring the rear end back down and get out. Dude offered cash for my trouble but I was to embarrassed about what could have really happened. Pulled aroundthe back and got him out then proceeded to go lick my wounded pride.

Not this truck but with my old 93 sierra I got a call from a buddy during a blizzard saying his parents were stuck. So in the -40 celcius and snowstorm I went out and proceeded to get myself stuck trying to get to his parents. Called another buddy with a bigger truck...stuck. So after all was said and done there were 6 trucks stuck in the snow. Called my old man with the tractor and eventually we got evereyone out...

Man, I've been in -20 or -30F and that is COLD. Where the hell are you that it gets to -40C?

Well this wasnt to my truck but to ME, I was out in the yard digging up a root about the size of a baseball bat, while digging under the root with a shovel I tryed to pick up on the root and break it off and as I was picking it up and pulling hard the root slipped out of my hands and the root hit the shovel head and the handle came up and hit me right in the side of my head and damn near knocked me out as I saw stars then the lump came out the side of my head later the size of a golf ball.

On my old 03 silverado i was installing my stereo and had to drill a hole under the hood... Had the drill on the ground next to tire, raised it up forgetting about the 6" long 1/2" drill bit sticking out of it and left a nice 4" scratch down to primer in the fender

 

Luckily my bodyshop guy hooked me up and charged me $50 to do a repair.... Painted / blend the whole fender.. clear coat / wax / looked brand new!

As if my user name doesn't give it away, I hunt a lot, I mean a lot. Anyway, we caught some wild hogs in a trap, 6 of them averaging about 200 lbs. I pulled the truck up behind the trap, walked around the front of the trap and opened the trap. After scrambling over the top of trap, tearing up my clothes, legs and hands, then diving head first into the bed of the truck I realized those frickin hogs where pissed off about being trapped. Really stupid!

I melted a hole in the brake fluid resivour by leaving a lead light up against it while replacing the intake maniforld gaskets. A little JB Weld worked wonders.

When i had my TA...i was stopped in a line for a train and decided to turn around...and alli saw was a Driveway behind me and in front of me so I figured there was a driveway across the whole lot..Needles to say...in between the two driveways which i couldn't see from sitting in my seat was a 3 foot ditch. I did not have the speed to ramp the gap

I turned a 4-wheeler trail into a fullsize truck trail on accident. As I was cresting an extremely steep hill I asked my buddy if there was anything beyond the curve at the bottom. He said no, so I figured I was good to let the truck fly down the hill and take the curve at the bottom. Turns out there was a jump at the bottom. I hit it doing a SOLID 35 and got all 4 off the ground. By some miracle nothing broke, and we drove away.
