Janesville That Much Closer To A Ghost Town

Anybody hear that whats left of the gm workers still in janesvillel collecting benifits are being kicked to ohio or losing their benefits....sort of sad but its a job i guess all i can say is hopefully the "out of a job yet? keep buying foreign" stickers will come to an end, some of them go around and stick them to non american made cars its sad!!

I won't be suprised if Spring Hill is ALMOST the exact same way... the Reason I say Almost is because the Engine Plant is still running, and sending engines to those Yankee JOB THIEVES!

Allow me to explain my reasoning: in March of 2007, GM began a $600 Million Dollar project of Retooling the Spring Hill Assembly Plant to make the Chevrolet Traverse. Fast Forward to June 12th, 2009. GM asks the State of Tennessee for $200 Million Dollars to keep Spring Hill Open. The State says "We can't we are short on money right now." GM then says "Fine then, Consider November of 2009 the last time Spring Hill Assembles a Vehicle." they Move Traverse Production to the Lansing Plant in Michigan, and the rest is history. Now Explain to me WHY Would GM invest So much Money in a Plant, only to Shut it down Two Years later!?!

Because the people who were running the business at the time the Spring Hill plant was retrofitted made a poor choice, and the folks in charge now have made a smart business decision and lowered their overhead by shutting down one entire facility while adding a shift to another, maximizing its production capacity. LDT lost the Saturn Outlook, which left them with plenty of room to handle the needs of Traverse production, making it the only plant needed for the Lambda platform.

And as for your little "yankee job stealers" comment, need I remind you that GM assisted several of the employees from Spring Hill in relocating to the Lansing area to work at the Delta Twp. plant?

Your reasoning is misguided. And just to note, the civil war was nearly 150 years ago.... we're no longer Yanks and Confederates, we're Americans. ALL of us.

If I'm not mistaken, they spent around a BILLION to spruce up our local GM plant. Pretty much all of it on a state of the art painting facility.

Only to shutter the place within a year or so of spending that $$$.

I don't get the downside of getting a good manufacturing job, other than they are producing a foreign owned product. Are they trading their family farms for these jobs, or are you just anti non-union for manufacturing?

Need I remind you that Nissan recently moved its American Headquarters closer to its main Assembly Plant here in Tennessee. and closer meaning just 28 Miles apart!
