I just installed an HID conversion kit in the low beam of my 2010 Sierra 1500. The bulbs are H11 4300K. The light is very bright but only shines forward about 50 yards. Much shorter than the factory bulbs. Driving at night you can only see about 1 second down the road. The point where the light ends is very distinct. Goes from bright white to black. I think this is caused by the shields inside the lens. Does anyone have any experience with HID installs in the 2010 Sierra and know why the distance the light shines is so limited?

I've got the 5000K HID kit in mine and they shine really far compared to the stock bulbs. I'd do a quick bulb swap in your case to see if the stock bulbs are better. Just pace out the distance then see which one is actually better. I'm thinking the HIDs are going to shine farther. What is probably happening is the HIDs are so bright up close that it seems like they die out at a shorter distance. The stock bulbs are dimmer all they way out and don't give you the same perception.

did you replace the housing as well as the bulbs? hid bulbs in a halogen housing doesnt work very well. the halogen housing spreads a lot of the light and doesnt shoot it down the road very well.

Did not change the housing. It doesn't light up the road but it sure lights up the ditches. Thanks.
