How Much Can You Tow With A 1500 'burban

Usual gvw for a boat trailer like that with 2 axles is 7000. Remember most of a boat is hollow. Cool pictures non the less.

That boat has twin stern drive engines, plus it is a cruiser with a tall hull sides, so I would say at least 8,500 lbs with the trailer. The outdrives are not mounted, which saves about 500 lbs.

I'd bet more than 8500 lbs . My friend has a boat not near that size and it weights 8500 lbs.

Looks huge but alot of that illusion is created by the cover...I would bet it is in the trucks range as stated above...hate to see how it handles in a cross wind though, might be better off without that cover.

11500 to 13000 lbs. It looks like a 30-32 footer since the suburban is 20.5ft long. I've been around boats for a while. Engines x 2 = 2200 lbs. Trailer= 1100 lbs. Full tank (guessing hes taking it out from winter storage)= 1000 lbs (120-150 gallons). Yeah the boat is hollow, but not as hollow as you would think. Its got beds, stoves, showers, toilets. Also the hull needs reinforcements (stringers) for the beating on the water.

Def. asking to get pulled over. Not safe in the suburban. Guy needs a dually since I wouldnt even send a 2500 to do the that work.

Dang, he has a set........... Regardless of the weight. Imagine wind sway. But he does look like he is taking his time. I personally would have done it toooo....

Most SUV's have autoride right? So it has a leveling system possibly.......

But I do hope he opted for the 4L80e on the order forum......

That Suburban is a 1/2 ton and only came with a 4L60 trans, and the max trailer weight is around 8500lbs. I had a 2001 3/4 ton Burban and it had the 4l80 and could tow up to 10,000lbs. The big block versions had a 4L85, and could tow up to 12,000lbs.

Boats are deceiving. New boats are much lighter than old boats. Since it's only a 1/2 burb I'd say he's well over his limit (although I'm certain he has air bags in back).

I'd bet that boat with trailer is 9,000 - 10,000 pounds. Although it may not have engines and drives in it saving about 3,000 pounds.

I'd be worried more about that cover and the wind than the weight.

FYI. The new tow ratings for 3/4 ton burbs and Yukons is 9,300 lbs (4x4) and 9,600 lbs (4x2).

It was 12,000 lbs with the 8.1 and 4.10 rear axle a few years back.

It wasn't too windy yesterday...but that section of road is not smooth...and you can get that bucking sensation that you get when driving on older concrete. There were a few times that things started to sway a bit...nothing too bad. The speed limit on that section of road is 65...he was doing between 55 and 65...it took me a while to catch him in my Dakota...

I just saw it and was floored. It probably doesn't weigh as much as it looks. It seems taller than it is due to the shrink wrap....but still...seeing that go down the road made me laugh...mainly because it made the 'Burb look like a Smart Car...

The boat looks a lot bigger than it is because it has a builit-in arch and all is covered in shrinkwrap, giving illusion of huge mass. This is a 27-28 ft cruiser with about 8.5 or 9 ft wide beam. For this boat to weigh 11,000 lbs, it would have to be a large 31 ft cruiser with a 10.5 ft beam. Such a boat can be towed on a trailer only with a special permit. Also, you would not use a double axle trailer to tow a 11,000 lb boat. A triple axle would be the norm.

As it sits, I would estimate the boat weight to be about 8,500 with the trailer assuming no fuel or gear.
