Odometer Problem

Question

Posted

I have an 04 1500 Silverado and my odometer isnt working properly. it seems to be jumping around. i noticed when i shut off my truck i had so many km on it and when i turned it back on it had 100km more. its done this a couple of times to me now where i have saw that it is adding more km than i am driving. it also seems to be jumping around while im driving. it will go up 50km or 20km randomly when i am driving. ive been watching it and it goes up 1k at a time fine most of the time but the odd time it jumps up and so far since i have been noticing the problem it has added just about 700 km to my truck that i havent driven. Any reasoning why this is happening and how i can fix it>? or will i have to go to a dealer and maybe replace the odometer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

GM had a TSB on the IPC that covered your year model I do believe. Do some searching here and it should be found easily. If you have too many miles odds are you're going to need a new IPC.
