Replacement Keys

Since I bought this 07 Tahoe used it only came with one key the owner is still trying to find the other key. But I bet she doesnt find it. So how much are these keys and I guess you have to buy from the dealer?

My dealer wants about $80 for a key for an 09 silverado. I bought a couple key blanks for an ebay seller for $10 each, had them cut for $5, then programed them myself. Programing was simple, and is refrenced in your owners manual.

hmm akblue I didnt know you could do that. could you tell me more about it. I might go that route. Thanks

I cant remember for sure, but it was as simple as putting an original key in the ignition, turning it to the run position without starting the engine, turn the key back, take it out, then place the new key in the ignition and start the engine. The key was now programed. Your tahoe may be different.

$10 key blanks? Holy crap, they're a lot cheaper now than when I last looked.
